I like whats on the market better too.

Well not everything on the market, but enough where I'm comfortable making this change. Not to mention that there are bound to be a few new candidates who will become available in the coming weeks.

To each their own but I can't read Brooks' article, note that they're leaning towards an experienced coach, and feel anything but worried about the options out there right now that fit that criteria. Could the Rangers feel that other options will hit the market that they like? Sure, but right now I don't see a single veteran coach out there that I would like to see behind the bench of this team.

I look forward to them re-airing games from the Quinn era in the future so I can continue to not understand what the Rangers were trying to do.

"Hey look we have two forwards in deep. Oh but they aren't forechecking. Wait now there is only one guy in deep. We look like we're trying to trap. But where are the defensemen? They must be changing. No, its the same pair. They're just all the way back by the defensive zone. Now they are backing into the zone and letting the opposition in unopposed. This appears to be strategic. Here comes the transition. The forward and the defenseman just bumped into each other. We can't get through this neutral zone so we dumped the puck but nobody seemed to expect it to happen and nobody went to get it. We're back to sort of forechecking. We have decent pressure this shift... oh wait thats because we had nine players on the ice."

I will miss you Quinn. If nothing else, its been entertaining.

yep, can't disagree. most of the time esp. in team sports there's not nearly enough time (per tenure) to pass a really informed and objective judgement.
There's Arsene Wenger and there's Mourinho...

I suspect Gallant's next stop could go a long way to deciding his reputation and future opportunities.

While he was with the Knights, apparently he was seen eating the blue discs out of the Urinals in T Mobile arena. He was gone shortly there after.
If I remember correctly, he was fired on a trip with the team and was not allowed to travel back with them.

That was because he pulled a couple of those out of his backpack to have a little snack on the team bus.

I liked Martin and know what, he got results. But you let the new coach pick his staff. Micromanaging it would be setting up the new coach for failure.

exactly why he’s gone. We’re hiring a veteran coach not a new comer. He’s going to want his guys

Yeah but if by some miraculous circumstance, you became the Rangers head coach, most of the posters on here would be saying the same shit about you too!

Of course they would, and that is sort of what I am saying, no matter who the coach is, they all do stuff that is veiwed as strange because it is strange.

Quinn I feel had no instinct for in game adjustments. Yet that is not totally out of the realm, In game adjustments under Torts was to play Brian Boyle more, AV play Glass more. Quinn used Howden and Blackwell.

I also liked Martin, but it’s kinda shitty to force an assistant on the new coach like we did by keeping Lindy

He seemed like a players coach, teams typically go in the opposite direction. I could see Torts coming back.

Just heard the news. Don’t think he was terrible but he wasn’t good either. Torts coming back now? Lol

Had to happen. I was tough on Quinn but I never like when someone actually loses their job. Was 100% the correct move by the team.

I think it’s the right move, but I also think the Rangers need to be patient to get the replacement. Their division/conference has some great coaches at the top. Rangers need to be able to compete at that caliber, especially to break into the playoffs

I’ve said this so many times too. Look at the coaches in the division. Did we measure up? We had one of if not the worst. We need a guy on that level. No doubt

I think Gallant and Hartley are the leading candidates but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a surprise emerge along the way.

Jim Montgomery?

Jacques Martin?

I can’t imagine a brand new GM taking a chance on Montgomery with that baggage. No way
