I would love to get him in Caps.

Could something like Sandin+1st+Jensen work?

Jiricek for Mavrik Bourque

Would be awesome from this CBJ fans pov.
Was thinking something like this as well. As a stars fan I dont like the idea of moving Stankoven or Bourque but for a prospect like Jiricek? they are absolutely on the table.

Something along the lines of Stankoven/Bourque/Bishel + Lundkvist/1st for Jiricek

maybe slightly less in the + if its Stankoven over Bourque/Bishel

In this case I don't blame the kid - especially when he's told to find a place in Columbus and is sent to Cleveland four days later (Aaron Portzline on Sportsnet yesterday). That is a legitimate beef. Either you send the kid to the AHL (Where he probably would benefit from a fell year this early in his career) or keep him in Columbus as promised.

He’s not getting traded. He’s not happy about being in the AHL, but he’s not ready for big NHL minutes.

Jarmo goes much sooner than Jiricek ever does.

His value would be insanely high, this isn’t some opportunity to get a good piece at a discount.

If there is one thing I learn is to not overestimate the sanity of a gm who's about to lose his job.

except it doesnt for the team that isnt Buffalo
its closer than you think - Savioe is a no joke top 10 pick who actually has 1st line upside and is scoring at 2 pt/game pace this year - maybe we’d add a non 1st round pick but it’s not as far away as you’re making it

It's weird he flew off the handle like that in response to being sent to the AHL, his numbers don't indicate a player that is too good for the AHL... he's maybe a #5-6 d-man in the NHL currently on a non-contending team if you are really pushing it. Probably best for his development to play big minutes in the AHL and be closer to a #4-5 next season ready to make leap rather than continuing to be on the fringe end of the lineup with limited minutes.

I know all about Savoie. The issue is Columbus has no shortage of offensive forwards. Will likely have a top 5 picks but who knows if they go forward or defense there. For RHD they have Boqvist-Severson-Gudbranson-Peeke and top prospect becomes Ceulemans. You dont see why trading a 1st pair potential big RHD for another scoring forward would be an issue for them?

Geez, this isn’t the first grade A prospect that has been angry with this organization this year. It’s a horrible team, with some of the worst contracts in the league, run by clowns… I would trade Hronek at the draft for him and KJ and help the Jackets make the playoffs next year, the Canucks manage the cap and two young high potentials change area codes.

I would want a bit more than him for Hronek myself.

You think you can get more than Jiricek for Hronek? You think you can get Jiricek and Kent Johnson for Filip Hronek, a UFA aged player?

It's great that Hronek has fit so well in Vancouver, but you're not getting a top tier prospect for him. If you think he's that good, then good for you, you can keep him.

From SJ I'd offer Eklund + or the 2024 1st depending where it slots.

Was thinking something like this as well. As a stars fan I dont like the idea of moving Stankoven or Bourque but for a prospect like Jiricek? they are absolutely on the table.

As Stevo notes above, it doesn't suit the Jackets to move Jiricek for a forward. Although I would consider it if it's a really solid player like Dylan Cozens. Maybe just my opinion but I also think there is an upside gap between Jiricek and Stankoven or Eklund.

Im also still waiting for Johnson to be traded. I thought he was supposed to force his way out after being sent down the the AHL for a bit
Because Columbus.

People keep trying to come up with excuses as to why this one is special, but it keeps boiling down to "because Columbus".

Because Columbus......

  1. Has a broken front office
  2. Has players who don't trust management or coaching
  3. Has a history of not being able to retain players (Panarin, Jones, Anderson, Duchene)
People are throwing legit reasons why a top prospect would want a better opportunity, you just refuse to accept them.

Sorry, but you're org is in a bad way from the front office on down to the players. Of COURSE there's going to be valid speculation far beyond the self-pity cry "because Columbus"

#2 is an assumption not in evidence and #3 hasn't been relevant in years upon years; it's akin to accusing the Devils of still playing the trap. That's what makes it "because Columbus".

As a fan of a team that keeps rebuilding, players that are thought to be immovable and have no leverage actually have leverage. There is not a front office or owner that wants to deal with a toxic situation in a locker room.

While he has not publicly requested a trade (which would be dumb for him and his agent to do) the first domino of pressure fell when he gave Portzline the interview. That interview wasn't just some in passing conversation, his agent cooked it up to put pressure on the front office and try to resolve this issue before it evolved.

Jiricek isn’t getting traded during the season (unless overpay).. it would be in the offseason but Jarmo likely fired and maybe he will want to stay.

Sabres offer Savoie straight up - strength for strength prospect trade makes too
Much sense….
Sabres desperately need a veteran D to stabilize their blueline, and they add a rookie NHL tweener.

CBJ has Gaudreau, K.Johnson and Brindley and adds yet another diminutive playmaker.

It most definitely does not make too much sense. Also Jiricek is just plain worth more as an asset.
