They may be Calgary's top prospects but that doesnt mean they'd be that on other teams
Wolf is any team in the league's top goalie prospect. Coronato isn't elite, but he's over a PPG in the AHL and projects as a top 6 forward. He'd be the top prospect on half the teams in the league. We just have a lot of young wingers and no 2 way young defensemen in the system. All of our D prospects are either bottom pairing defensive guys or PPQB types.

Top goalie prospect and big 1st pair upside RHD are not remotely the same value. Columbus also wouldnt care what Calgary wants/needs when they themselves need Jiricek

They don't seem to be treating him like they need him. Of course I think we win the trade. The goal of trading is to give up something of less value for something of more value. You can't make a trade without considering the needs of other teams, so that's not a very wise perspective.

People like to jump on these things like there is more to it than there is. To start the year we were told Kent Johnson was going to have to be traded because he also got sent down, pretty quiet on that front now.

Also Columbus doesnt need wingers at all. Doesnt seem like offering Coranato is considering Cllumbus' needs

Columbus needs everything. You guys don't have good 2 way wingers at all. Really the only 2 way guys on the team are Boone Jenner and.... Boone Jenner.

Team is young, players are still developing, a lot kf what they need is time and experience. They have some fairly responsible guys for kids who are still learning how to win and play 60 minutes. Things Coranato doesnt help and even if he did its not even remotely worth the downgrade

Stopped reading here. When other teams' fans start trying to dictate to you what your team needs, nothing good comes of engaging with them because they're inevitably clueless.
Where do you think your club is strong other than the blueline? They are weak at every forward position and in net. All their lines get caved.

:biglaugh:

Oh honey. You really haven't been paying attention at all, have you? The blueline and goaltending are our biggest weakpoint. Forwards are more than set. When we win games it's because those forwards are clicking and the defense hasn't completely fallen apart in the 3rd period.

Oh, and some JD comments...

Davidson said that It's "more than a circus" when host Anthony Rothman said he had to manage a little bit of a circus. Davidson also said it's "from the outside."

David Jiricek was brought up and he was asked to give his opinion on the issue. Davidson said "This is the most overblown pile of B.S. that I've heard since I got into management. And here's my feeling, David is a good kid. He's a strong-willed, at times stubborn kid. He's got a wonderful future and it's going to be with the Blue Jackets. He's a player that came to camp after an outstanding season last year in the American League, outstanding! And he made our team, the top 6. He was told to get a place, would you want him sitting in a hotel for 3 or 4 months? NO! He was told to get a place. Then he's been asked to go down a couple of times. The key here is which, I don't see written or talked about very often, is that, when he was told to get a place, he was also told by Jarmo, our general manager that, if you're not playing games, you're going to go to Cleveland to play games.

Davidson went on to say "We can't have you sitting if you're not playing. This is the truth. This is what the story was. When he was asked to go down, all of a sudden things blew, its like a volcano went off. And everybody from around the sports world with hockey have their opinions. But for me, I don't get it. I swear to god I don't get it." Davidson goes on to rant about how this is blown out of proportion and that Jiricek needs to earn it, and gives an example about his experience being sent down to the minors.
Like I keep saying. Because Columbus.

They get caved in terms of goals against, that part is correct. They're actually 8th in 5v5 goals, so the offense part isn't a concern.

But of course bad defending is what happens with rookies and other ELC players all over the lineup. Fantilli is the worst defensively, which is entirely expected from a teenage center. He's also our top 5v5 scorer. They need to grow up and improve the two-way game. And I think acquiring better two-way veterans would be smart too, though you can get those players without trading away blue-chip prospects like Jiricek.

This might be enough to get Jenner and Peeke.
Ok let's be realistic here, Niemela is 1 year older then Jiricek while putting up similar numbers in the AHL. Minten is also a top prospect, plus a 1st Round Pick. Not to mention, Holmberg who has shown this year he can produce when given the opportunity Abruzzese is having a solid season in the AHL as well and is still only 24. So that's 4 great to good prospects so under the age of 24, plus a 1st Round Pick.

You seem to value your prospects more than neutral fans would, so you should probably just keep them and not offer to trade them.

Those are 4 B to C level prospects. Spare parts.

Name the teams he'd be top on. I'll wait. I expect at least 16.
Boston, Edmonton, LA, Seattle, Vancouver, Vegas, Colorado, Nashville, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Carolina, New Jersey, Islanders, Rangers, Penguins, Capitals, Florida, Tampa, Toronto. That's 18, I understated it.

Yeah Coronato isn't a better prospect than McGroarty, so you can take Winnipeg off that list. He's closer to Lambert and Chibrikov than McGroarty.
