I don't really have a problem with this. Its just one of those things you definitely never do.

Yes, the ref clearly was beating Carcillo unconscious, carcillo had no choice but to give him a couple elbows to the head.

Its amazing the excuses people make for this kind of dirt behavior.
'

Why the BS, fact is he did do nothing back turned to the fight when the ref grabbed and pushed him. Of cause he should have stayed cool but he didn't.

The ref grabbed him.

He hit the ref.

Carcillo deserves to be suspended for 10 games.

Not sure what argument you are trying to make.

It's galling--because if the refs had done their job the Rangers would have had a 5 minute power play and Prust would have been gone from the game and this entire situation wouldn't have occurred. As usual they do their job--partially. They get one part--they completely miss another. The real guy who caused all the commotion if he gets anything will get a lot less than that and he'll have actually injured somebody--so the refs protect themselves and later on we'll hear all this grandstanding about how tough their job is and how very, very good they are at it--which is a lot of horse **** to my ears and eyes. The league will never critique itself--this speaks to the league's integrity so it's off limits to suggest that the officiating can be anything other than fantastic.

That being said Carcillo was not smart. This linesman seemed to single him out--out of all the players on the ice--and that was unusual. I mean really--what do linesmen usually do in a fight--to break a fight up one takes one combatant and the other takes the other--why the **** is Driscoll with Carcillo?

lol....unreal they didn't exercise 3 games after the disgusting situation cause by the officials themselves. But yeah...feel free to go out and intentionally break someones jaw but only if you team is in danger of being swept. jokes.

It was stupid on Carcillo's part but I'm not really pissed with him. He had right to be angry. It sucks for us because even if he wasn't an everyday player he'd played pretty well for us when he got the chance.

He got him three times in the head with an elbow.

Hes lucky he only got 10 games. Probably should have got 20.

Someone posted a gif in this thread. Can you please share with all of us these three alleged hits the head with an elbow? Holy hyperbole, Batman!

What Carcillo did was wrong (as are posters trying to justify his actions because the refs missed the late hit by Prust). He aggressively tried to free himself - dumb move - but there were no elbows to the head. I'd love to know why you're pressing this "should have been given more than 10 games" point so vociferously.....

As soon as the ref grabs him carcillo hits him.

Then he throws an elbow three times while he is being escorted to the bench.

rules are rules. I'm just pissed we didn't get more value out of a 10 game suspension. something that can be immortally embodied into an animated gif like Carcillo riding and spanking Tokarski like a pony.

he deserved it. idiotic play, totally moronic. you never...hit...a...ref.

beer league to the nhl, you know never to touch a ref.

Thanks for the goals vs Philly Dan, you actually were a pretty solid player here for the season, was worth giving up the 7th.

The league is oblivious to this. It's paddling upstream against the narrative that the league's officiating is top notch.

Uh, they should be oblivious to it. Its not a logical argument.

Carcillo hit a ref.

Why or how it came about is irrelevant.

I agree with everything you've said in this topic. Not a heinous act, but by rule it calls for 10 games. Cut and dry.

I like carcillo, after I was admittedly vehemountly against his acquisition. He's played well in his role, contributed huge goals and has been effective. Now he is out of the playoffs and probably the organization as a whole. I'll accept that carcillo has reasons for his actions but they don't excuse it.

The only thing that will piss me off is if Prust walks away with a slap on the wrist. Fine, protect officials from aggressive behavior. Just protect players from truly dangerous actions. I know better than to ask for competent refs.

It's a minor point--but it's a linesman and a fight is going on at the same time. One would think that if anyone had to take Carcillo to the box it should have been one of the two referees. Fights often devolve quickly with one player getting a big advantage over the other and Dorsett is not in Prust's league as a fighter. Ideally both linesmen should be around to make sure the fight ends with no big advantage to one player or the other. Instead all this attention to Carcillo. At least for me that was really odd.
