Well, it took longer than I expected, but Carcillo costing the team by doing something mind-numbingly stupid has happened.

Lets be honest, this isn't going to cost the team. Brassard will be back, and Carcillo would be back in the press box anyway.

He'll get a suspension, and he'll deserve it. He hit a linesman. If Prust or somebody else on the Habs did the same thing we'd all be clamoring for 20 games.

Carcillo deserves a suspension, no doubt. But there should also be litigation preventing linesmen to do what Driscoll did. What he did was unprovoked, and while Carcillo handled it terribly, i'm sure absolutely no one on this board would enjoy being man handled by someone for no reason whatsoever.

I hate even being bumped into at a bar... I'd probably have had a similar reaction to getting my shirt/jersey gripped and being forced to move away the way that Carcillo had to last night.

10 games, fine. He threw a pretty harsh elbow. But there really should be a punishment for Driscoll, too. A ref imposing his physical dominance on a player because there are rules protecting him and not the player should not be a topic - ever.

try shoving or hitting a cop - pretty much same deal

In a bar getting manhandled is a provocation and has happened to me much less than the amount of fingers on my hand, in fact never.

In a hockey game getting removed from a fracas or potential fracas by a linesman is the cost of doing business, it happens all the time. It happened to me quite a bit. Well it used to, not any longer, I am reformed.

I don't think a police officer is a good example.

A lineseman is more like a bouncer. And we all know that bouncers step over their line of power because of power trips. That's what Driscoll did. Arrogantly overstepped his rights because he "could". In fact, 99% of the time I see linesmen using one hand to impede the path of an incoming player who is forcibly trying to get into the scrum. The other hand is usually used to point in the other direction, motioning their dismissal.

Never seen a stationary and idle player get treated the way that Carc did last night. I realize the reality of the situation, and again Carcillo deserves to be suspended. But my point is there really should be rules preventing linesmen to do what they did, too.

You're in the middle of a game, especially right after a ridiculously emotional 2 minutes, and you're bound to get emotional and heated too. SD only exacerbated Carcillo's mood.

I think he is referring - though I could be wrong - to the fact that the team had to play short a man for basically the entire game. It's certainly not the only reason, but the team looked pretty gassed the last period and a half.

Is your avatar from the book, calendar, cardboard cutout, or something else?

That's exactly what I was implying. Our biggest strength -- apart from our goalie -- is our depth, and it threw everyone off to have to play a man down for the second time in three games. I'm not saying it's the reason we lost, but it certainly didn't help.

lost in the issue is that what Carcillo did to Prust WAS NOT a penalty and a BRUTAL call.

Exactly. I truly didn't see the charge, but I haven't re-watched the play since it happened.

Then again, even if it was correct it still wasn't worth it. Pick your spots. Could have had a better opportunity to extract revenge. Like that our boys stood up for a teammate, though. Used to have big problems with that in recent memory.
