Would have been better off shaking the linesman off and getting a third man in. What a league.

Yeah, but the rules are just so ass backwards. He could go in and pumble Prust an get 1 game a la Dubinsky, but him giving the refs a few jabs is 10 games? :help:

I have no problem with huge punishments for hitting a ref.

Me either, I understand the ref is there ti officiate and should not subject to any punishment from players. However, I think the penalties are disproportionate.

He made contact with the official, but it was only to try and shake-off being held aggressively. Not a smart move by Carcillo, but heat-of-the-moment stuff in a very volatile, emotional situation (Stepan).

He did not raise an open hand to him or strike him in any way. This should - at MOST - be a 3 gamer.

Who is Stephan?

And you cant elbow an official in the face either. Carcillo deserves to be suspended for at least the rest of the playoffs. If not part of next season.

There is no excuse at all for him to do what he did

Jumped him? Lol.

If the linesman started throwing punches sure. But he grabbed his jersey and arms and moved him to the penalty box.

He stod still with back turned to the fight when ref, grabbed and pushed him against the board, naturally he got upset

Yes, the ref clearly was beating Carcillo unconscious, carcillo had no choice but to give him a couple elbows to the head.

Its amazing the excuses people make for this kind of dirt behavior.

Carcillo didn't even give the dude an elbow, much less a couple, to the head, he was fighting to get him off of him.

edit- Keep in mind that I absolutely hate Carcillo. But his hit on Prust was dirtier than the "elbow" to the ref. 10 games is unacceptable.

It was a stupid move no doubt...

but it should be 3-5 games, not 10.. that's very excessive considering Carcillo did not do anything prior other than a 2 min "charging" penalty

He got him three times in the head with an elbow.

Hes lucky he only got 10 games. Probably should have got 20.

Eh? What does what he did prior have anything to do with anything?

You cant hit an official. The end.
