I know it leaves the team a bit short handed but emotionally....Does the Stepan incident plus the Cacillo suspension give the Rangers another rallying point?
The friggin' linesman instigated it.
Stupid linesman jumping player that can't keep hes head cool.
Incident created from nothing by the linesman.
yea, that linesman came in swingin!
Carcillo committed a penalty that led to a fight, so the linesman was trying to get him off the ice before more fights broke out. Its his job.
Carcillo cant hit him no matter what
He actually was if you would look at it. He pushed Carcillo three times before Carcillo DID ANYTHING.

I really wonder if any defending Carcillo played the sport before.
Ive been grabbed and shoved by refs all the time when there are scuffles around on the ice. If I hit a ref Im probably banned for a year, if not longer. You know you cant hit them no matter what.
Carcillo knew that too.
Carcillo didn't really do much different than lots of players.
Additionally this is not a big deal. The guy is our 13th/14th forward who when he plays gets maybe 8-10 mins a game on the 4th line with zero PP and zero PK.
Right, in beer league where fighting is not allowed, period.
I've played too, and have seen "abuse of officials" penalties rescinded the next day when the house talks to all involved. I've been called by the guy who runs the league to give my witness report. Sometimes the ref oversteps.
In the NHL, fighting is allowed, and Carcillo is one of the Rangers' enforcers. The linesman not only started the altercation, but could have put a Ranger player in danger by taking the protection off the ice.
Driscoll knew what he was doing.
Haha! This^ I love it.Thank goodness the league came down hard on Carcillo. Someone needs to make sure the refs are protected from all these predatory hits and players who are on the ice only to injure officials. After all, aren't the officials who we pay to see?
The whole game was a rigged set up.
Call me crazy and I'll respond by asking anyone how four professional refs miss that Hit on Steps. Just does not happen.
These guys are either completely incompetent or it's rigged. Take your pick.
As much as I hate that Carcillo gets suspended, I can see how he would get so fired up.
It all but came out in the open last night. Everyone knows what the deal is. How many years has it been since a Canadian team made the semis? Watching the NHL on some level is like watching professional wrestling.
It's a shame. Bunch of small town knuckle heads running that league.
There's a video on the ESPN website that zoomed in a pretty clear view that Carcillo got the linesman with his elbow. Seems to be the most clear video I've seen of the incident so far.
Around the 40 second mark:
