They met to discuss Bylsma. They woke up quite early to discuss it. They stayed almost all day.

This is the best news, by far, that we've had. If they were just going to continue with status quo, they'd have met for a couple hours at midday and gone home.

I'm confident that at the very least Rierden and Granato are gone. Bylsma is anyone's guess.

It's also the only news that we've had

Also, does Burkle usually attend these meetings?

Cause when Burkle shows up, there's usually some serious **** going down

I wouldn't be worried either if i were DB, the second he gets fired(if it happens), alot of teams will be itching to interview him.

There are allot more things to discuss besides the coaching staff, sounds like good news for DB, if he was going to get fired i would think we would of heard by now.

where is this inane idea that the penguins should keep bylsma but get rid of the assistant coming from? its simply absurd and honestly laughable.

keep the nice guy around but get rid of his hand picked assistants. in doing so, you're making the huge leap that its the assistants that are the problem and not bylsma himself. simply nonsensical. why on earth do people think granato and reirden are the problems and not bylsma?

people need to put their emotions aside, much like shero is hopefully doing, and realize that as much as bylsma and fleury have given to this team, and as nice and friendly and "good" people they are, they are not good at their job.

honest question. has a team ever canned the assistants but kept the coach around? i cannot recall such an instance.

There is a reason DB said no comment, I suspect they wanted to hear from DB on what he thought went wrong, etc.

Now there discussing what to do as an organization.

I bet they don't even know just yet.

I am sure a so long meeting and all that time for Shero before having is yearly press conference inches that big changes are coming... Bylsma wasn't saying logical things in his presser saying Beauner and Despres are top 6 forward and top 4 d-man and not playing for much of the time... Pretty hard to understand but to me he said that in a panic move...

I almost feel bad for Team USA at Sochi if DB is gonna be the coach.

I think he'll make a great coach for USA. Those games hardly ever involve defense. A players coach is a good choice in that instance. Team defense & adjustments don't win gold metals. They're pretty much all-star games.

But what will he do with all of the options???

Must be awkward to say what wrong was himself.

Found that really surprising as well. Made zero sense considering they were always the 1st players benched

Habs, I think? Or maybe the Leafs, pretty sure it was the Habs last season. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to look it up. That's the first one that comes to mind, I seem to recall it's been done by other teams as a wake up call before making bigger changes.

The stuff about Tippett not being a candidate to come here are funny.

I think Tippett is looking for the right job to say peace out to Phoenix to. If he was 100% staying in Phoenix, he'd already be re-signed by now. Does anyone think Tippett wants to go through this rigamarole every year with will the team be in Phoenix? Will they be in Seattle? Will they be in Quebec? He has a wife and two teenage kids. I'm sure the family would love to know where they're going to be for a while.

Tippett is one of the best coaches in the league. I'd put him at #2 right behind Babcock. The only reason he was out in Dallas was because Niewendyk took over at GM and wanted to bring in his own guy as coach.

It might be a pipe dream, but I'd love to see Tippett with Tocchet and King as the assistants. Those guys pretty much cover all the bases.

How is Tippett with young players? One of my biggest frustrations with Bylsma is his unwillingness to let young guys work through mistakes while vets get all year long to look terrible before they get benched.
