If they're not going to fire him, it would be nice to get some wingers who are self starters for a change.

It's for that reason alone that I kinda want Dupuis gone, and wouldn't even shed much of a tear if they decide to get rid of Kunitz. Time to get EVERYONE, coaches and players, out of their respective comfort zones.

I think Kunitz is gone next offseason but I agree let the players go for better players like the Hawks.

In a way, I understand not getting rid of too much for change sending the Pens into not able to get it somewhat together for a chance next season/playoffs.

The system has to be rock solid and the players have to buy into it and have it working at 90% for them to pass the eye test. This includes Fleury bouncing back and being a 2.0 GAA range type goalie to feel safe enough going into the playoffs with him if the defense is sound.

I think it's important that Shero looks a tiny bit in the mirror before making any player or coaching decisions.

It essentially starts with Ray, and he has to decide once and for all what kind of identity he wants the Penguins to have. Wanting a team that's "Hard to play against" does not mean you only do it in THEORY in terms of the personnel you pick up without taking other things into consideration.

In THEORY, Brenden Morrow SHOULD have made our team tougher, but message posters like us who pay 20 bucks a month for Gamecenter and watched the occasional Dallas game knew that THEORY was all that was. Same thing with Murray, who would provide a lot of toughness and physicality while significantly slowing down our d-corps. Iginla was a mistake, and came with a heavy warning from a lot of Flames fans who were very objective with their analysis of him and said that his play had been slipping for YEARS. I don't want to hear anything about which side he played on, because while that certainly didn't help, I don't think the negative impact the position switch had was as significant as some people want to believe.

1. If Bylmsa stays, then Shero's fate in inextricably tied to his. Another debacle, and they're both done.

I don't know about that, but what I do know is if Bylsma is to be retained, he needs an extension this summer. If Shero extends him, then is forced by circumstance to remove him inside 2 years (while they still have to compensate him), no ownership group is going to be happy about--or ever forget--that.

Then again, it occurs to me that Bylsma could get a new gig, probably for more money, relatively quickly. There would need to be a mutual opt-out for that to happen.

Doesn't look like a man that's about to fired, lol. This is from like 5 minutes ago.

I see I am not the only one Twitter stalking

But yeah, he seems too happy. Doesn't seem promising.

Part of me is kind've expecting that Shero will come out and sadly just remain a status quo that Bylsma is the coach/manager going forward and that Fleury will be the franchise goalie.

If that happens I would have a hard time enjoying next season as much as this.

Lets just hope that he's hiding it.

He's a great guy though, can't fault him for his attitude and general being. He's not been good for us lately.

Well the girl said he was the nicest guy she's ever met in her tweet. I know I wouldn't be too friendly if I just lost my job

lol if the Pens fire Dan he will have a job as head coach on another team almost instantly

Well, like I said, he has great people skills but from the sounds of it it's highly unlikely that he'll be going.

Please be a psychotic break smile, please be a psychotic break smile.

TBH, he looks run down to me, which hopefully points towards what I want.

That's some powerful optimism right there! It is comforting that he seemed like he lost his mind in that presser.

This is Bylsma, he had no emotion when we won the cup. I would not take a picture as him staying.

 It's all in good fun. This picture is the closest thing we've had to news other than Rossi's thoroughly insightful tweet yesterday that no one really knows what's going on.

Yes, I'm an optimist. Realistically, as someone who enjoys celebrity gossips, a picture and sighting (brief interaction) like that means exactly nothing. Good or bad.

Ray Shero and Mario Lemieux talked all day Tuesday. Ron Burkle was in on those discussions, too.

Shero, the Penguins' general manager, met with franchise majority co-owners Lemieux and Burkle to discuss several items, including the future of coach Dan Bylsma and assistants Tony Granato and Todd Reirden.

The meeting began around 7 a.m. at Consol Energy Center.

Bylsma is set to enter the final season of his contract. There were no plans to extend him as of Tuesday morning.

Shero, Lemieux and Burkle are extensively reviewing of the Penguins, who were swept from the Eastern Conference final by Boston. The favored Penguins scored only two goals in the series.

Since leading them to the Stanley Cup in 2009, Bylsma has steered the Penguins to only three playoff series victories and amassed a 20-21 postseason record.

Bylsma is the franchise leader in winning percentage and playoff victories — and a leading candidate to coach Team USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Bylsma declined to comment Tuesday.
