He’s going 5th to the Canadiens imo
I don't see it. Habs have a lot of young Dmen on the roster with Hutson and Mailloux on the way.
They don't have that elite forward available at 5 in the system - that being said, maybe they trade down and acquire a young forward (and still pick Reianbacher), maybe they trade for Dubois, lots of variables.

Seeing him as the second dman off the board in more and more mocks.

Can’t have two many. Reinbacher would be perfect to pair with Hutson. Mailloux on thé second pairing - Reinbacher is a much more complete Dman imo. We shall see! These playoff teams left all have fantastic D, and I won’t be surprised if that influences how teams build . Otherwise they need someone who plays mean. Ryan Leonard type.

They don’t have a premier RD in the pipeline. Sure Mailloux might fit that bill but Reinbacher would anchor that right side next to Guhle for the next 10-15 years in Montreal. Playing as a top pair RD in the Swiss mens league as a teenager is not easy. The Austrian senior mens defense at the Worlds is suffering greatly without him after his injury.

Interesting that it seems Willander is slowly making his way into some top 10/15 draft lists and I’d almost compare him to Seider more than Reinbacher. His rise since the U18’s is catapulting him from the mid 20’s and I think ASP has also asserted himself around the top 10. It’s going to be interesting to see how the dominos fall and what team prioritize certain skill sets.

Genetics super interesting and strange, this kid is 6 foot 3, but his older brother is 5 foot 10..
Yup.

My brother is 6'2/3 and I'm 5'10/5'11 and tied for shortest male on my dad's side. Everyone else is over 6'0. Well, I beat my son, but he's 6 and looking like he'll be 6'2 by the time he's 16, but I'll be stronger than him hopefully.

Top 5 will go as expected,
I feel he goes in the 6-8 range, if not wings should draft him at 9.
Dont bet money on that. There is a good chance Michkov drops out of the top 5 and Im fairly condident Habs pick Reinbacher or Dvorsky over Smith.

It is in Bibi Torriani I trust.. Thought Reinbacher was excellent early in the tourney and thought he was a bit tentative today although he played solid... probably not wanting to try too much coming off the injury..

I like Reinbacher but the 2024 class is loaded with cornerstone defensemen. Drafting him out of need in the top-5 of this ridiculous draft means one of Benson, Michkov, Smith, or Dvorsky drop out. Too risky to play with fate just to address a need and he sure as shit ain't BPA.

Another thing is most of the top-10 teams have an extra 1st rounder. It's totally fair and reasonable to wait until the 10-25 range to start taking defensemen in forward-heavy drafts.

I agree Reinbacher most likely won't go top5. The rest is speculation though. You didn't mention Carlsson but many believe he's even an option for the Ducks at 2. There's no consensus top5 pick behind Bedard, Fantilli who's mostly consensus nr.2 and (mostly) Carlsson.

For example, McKenzie has Dvorsky at 6 and Benson at 8 on his latest top12 list. In fact, hardly anybody has Dvorsky in the top5. Cosentino has him all the way down at 11 on his latest list.

So there's a fair chance the top3 will go first but then ~4-20 a lot can happen. Some have better cards than others to go early but I see it as wide open. I don't think the skill/upside/talent gaps between those guys are huge by any means. Well, talentwise and in a different world, Michkov would probably be a clear cut top5 pick but in this world he's a wild card as well.

I think labelling drafting Reinbacher at 5 or 6 as ''risky'' doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm almost certain he's going to play, and he has the make up of a guy who can have a big impact.

That's where the disagreement is.

We're not confused about whether we're allowed to not take a defenseman, many of us actually think Reinbacher is going to be BPA in the top 10. Nothing to do with need.
