Schneider. Would’ve been a fight with Oshie if the reds didn’t blow the play dead. Oshie loves to have the refs protect him from rookies. Ran from Barron last year and waited for the officials to protect him from Laf & Schneider at different points tonight. Mr. Softee
Love Oshie for being an olympic hero but he has become a guy who hits dirty and runs behind his mothers skirt so he doesn’t have to face the consequences

20 years old and already playing big boy hockey. and for all the crap we talk about Laf not producting he has been playing with that same level of maturity.
I've never felt questioning Laf's effort and commitment. He has flashed the skill quite a bit. I bet Laf hits 45+ points next year. That is perfectly fine progression for the complete player that he is becoming.

One other thing, had to go read the caps board and still thing that he (Wilson) was only worried about a suspension (for what , getting your butt beat) he was afraid of his daddy Ryan. Still think the physicality that the Rangers displayed totally threw the Caps off their game, heads were on swivels. Beat them at their own game

Jones takes a hit and Schneider is right there to back it up after the play

Barron took no shit either, but is a competent player to boot, not some goon callup

It is either being taught the same way in the AHL, or the team/coach let them know how this team conducts itself once they make it to the big club, or both; but the culture change is so completely night and day from so many of the past years

Maybe it is Drury and his experience, maybe it is Gallant, maybe it is Goodrow, or Reaves, or all of it. But it is there. Also great for any kid to get used to this mindset.

Nobody had to teach that into Barron.

Here's a fun fact: The Capitals have actually lost more games than the Blue Jackets this year. The only reason they have a playoff spot right now is because they lead the league in loser points. Columbus is only 10 points back with a game in hand for their wild card spot.

How can they possibly use this BS afraid of suspension excuse? He wasn't suspended for punching buch in the back of the head while he was laying on the ice, or nearly throwing panarin's head through the ice without his helmet on, so now he's worried about getting suspended throwing legal hits? They are 28-25 with a bunch of loser points and the best player in their franchise history is a putin apologist.

How many times did I read boy the Rangers have come a long way since that opening night loss to the Caps…

here are the Rangers in 10 game segments:

6-2-2
7-2-1
6-3-1
7-3-0
6-3-1

stsrted a new one with a win.

the Rangers have been really good all year. They just happened to play Georgiev that night and he’s awful

Tonight was the only thing I've been asking for all year... Until Saturday. I want a repeat Saturday, though i can't see Pitt laying an egg twice in a row.
I think this is a truly defeatist attitude. Why do they have to “lay an egg”? Isn’t it just possible that the Rangers curb stomp them? There’s a contingent of posters on here who believe that the Rangers are not capable of beating any of the “upper echelon” teams with out said teams not showing up. Their record aside, Was last night not proof of what the Rangers are capable of this year? The Caps came out hard and fast and the Rangers matched it and smothered them in convincing fashion. The implication of that post, is that Washington “laid an egg” which is why we beat them.

No no, I want the Rangers to stomp Pitt. By "lay an egg" meaning get blown out two games in a row (Jersey wrecked them last night).

I don't expect any but the worst teams to stink it up consecutively like that.

We didn't beat Washington because they laid an egg, we would have won anyway, we CRUSHED them last night because they did.

Gotcha. There still is a large swath of posters here that believe it though.

Although the whole team played well, I found it easy to pick my 3 stars of the game.

Laffy as expected with a goal and an assist.

Gauthier with two incredible plays and drawing another penalty.

And Morgan Barron, who should get another start after this performance.

We had a conversation after last game, about the need for more scoring from our bottom six. And I mentioned, with all the time they spend in the O-zone, that is just as productive. And that when playoffs come around, they will chip in more often, as most playoff teams do with their bottom six.

You could see from the get go tonight, that this game had a playoff type atmosphere, and our bottom six came through bigtime.
Could not have said that any better . Gauthier and Barron set the tempo early . Pencil these two in as Rangers for the next 5 years . At a million each it solves 2 pieces on our bottom six going forward . Gauthier has the size and speed and does it all except score...and that should come at some point . Let Gallant work with him for rest of season . It's not like his value will diminish . I actually liked that play he made on his opposite wing on Carlsson...turned him inside out .

NBC wasn't very glam but they had hockeyness. Milbury is a horse's ass but he brings a lot of what he brings. Pierre McGuire is weird but he does what he does well. Doc was excellent. Kenny good too. This ESPN cast is just so... manufactured.
Boucher is not great ... the forced chatter about Wilson & Reaves became highly annoying ... But I liked Mess & Chelios, and Wicshusen with the play by play.

What a night. Great food and beer (NOT at MSG), great game, crowd was really into it.

I think that was one of their more complete games in awhile, and really wanted Shesty to get the Shut out which is why I think the Caps pulled their goalie, wanted to spoil and they did sadly.

Don’t want to read any negative comments not even on he who shall not be named who took two period ending penalties, nope didn’t happen, move on..
