RIP Yotes. I never got the hate but this has to be it. Feel terrible for the fans, most notably the kids. It always starts and ends with the kids in these non-traditional markets.

The Houston Harambes now please.

If they go Atlanta again that would be such a shame.
Probably three realistic options:

Atlanta - NHL ready rink (Phillips arena) as a temporary solution while they try to hammer out their plans to build a new arena specifically for hockey. Would be way, way more ideal than playing a dingy college rink.

- Quebec - State of the art NHL arena ready to go, just proved they can move tickets given they sold out an 18k seat barn for junior hockey. Quebecer would probably be very willing to talk turkey

Houston - NHL ready barn, huge market that has at least some history with hockey. Unclear if they have a buyer

Most of this also depends on what the Yotes ownership wants to do. Sell or just move?

I also refuse to believe Bettman is going to just let this happen.

I’m sure the NHL has prepared a fallback option if this wasn’t gonna pass. They always have known this was a possibility

Jokes aside, it’s hard to go this deep and have it all depend on a referendum, lose the referendum convincingly, and then double down yet again. At some point there’s an actual stop to the efforts.

I’m guessing Houston, Quebec, or Portland in that order but now that I’ve said that Bettman will push for Atlanta and the 3rd time will definitely not be a charm.
People want to try Quebec for a third time. Why not Atlanta?
