Am I missing something or is that curtain hanging in a practice rink being called a "locker room"?

It's the "early setup" of the temporary accommodations of the first four visiting NHL teams.

After that, apparently an actual suitable lockerroom is being made available.

Everything going smoothly down there in Arizona, don't you worry.

Because he works for the 32 nhl teams owners who want Arizona around still.

True North was minutes away from purchasing and relocating Phoenix a few years before they bought and relocated Atlanta to Winnipeg
Ya I am willing to bet all the owners, likely very few, want Arizona around, especially after all the crap over the last decade.

jesus this is bush league shit. sorry Arizona fans, this is indefensible

I'm sure the usual suspects from the Coyotes board have their excuses lined up though
“Usual” defenses to the “usual” criticism that’s just repeated. It’s the same conversation.

they’re staying in Arizona lol.

Incredible. I don't even think Coyotes fans can defend that one here.
Who needs to defend??

I'm enjoying and laughing my ass off at all the comments here.

The four teams that will be using the community rink facility will have it all to themselves. It does have four separate locker rooms (and showers! ;) ). I can't say if they are using any of them because I honestly don't know. What the clip in the OP shows is them just beginning to set up some of the other required areas over the actual community rink ice surface.

In the end they will actually have more room to operate than they would at most other arenas.

So are the Coyotes unable to use the Sun Devils locker room, is that why they don't have two locker rooms to begin with? I don't understand why this is needed?

NCAA rules prohibit the use of the Sun Devils home locker area (which is real ice from what I've seen). Coyotes are going to use the visiting team locker area, which I've heard is quite spartan in comparison.

I can’t wait for the Coyotes to have the best home record in the league and HFBoards to flip out because they are “cheating” or something by providing visiting teams with ‘unsatisfactory conditions’.

Frankly speaking I'm hoping we end up with the 10th worst record, then win the Bedard draft lottery. Beats waiting two more years before Auston Matthews comes home.

Coyotes fans are best off embracing all the hate and hoping their team becomes galvinized long term because of all the shit the organization takes from greedy fans.

Oy vey. Bettman needs to just admit how wrong he was about this whole situation.
This isn’t Arizona, it’s bad ownership and management.

The original arena location was bad and not helpful, tho the crap team management was worse. People will travel inconveniently if they’re already big fans or the team is a super exciting draw rather than a losing and or defensive structured team. New fans in a non market won’t go way the f*** out of their way to watch a team lose.

A number of now strong franchises had low points, especially near the beginning when they weren’t originally hockey markets. But even the Blackhawks had a hard time getting fan engagement at one point.

Maybe if the team was build better (entertaining) way back the city would put up more with the team ownerships bullshit longer or been less abrupt and allowed time to get a new arena set up. They did not seem to have a great relationship.

Small market teams have built up structure and fan bases from the ground before. There’s nothing inherent about Arizona that’s messing this up. It’s people.

This is sad, but people are really overstating this particular aspect. It’s 4 games for 4 teams. The millionaires will survive even if it’s way less than ideal. They’ll be in and out.

The Home team should be better off eventually two once the whole thing is complete. Many of them are honestly fringe NHLers and they’re essentially doing a full rebuild so I’m not worried about their 26+ year old star core running off yet.

Maybe with one more failed rebuild they’ll move it, but it’s staying for the first paragraph, they know Tempe is way better and if they can get it there or anywhere, they’re taking the chance less on the market and more on the new management to build a good team. The market isn’t the issue causing the vast majority of this. It’s internal issues with the team

There's real ice IN the locker room, like they can just skate out to the rink? That's pretty sweet!

Oh we're used to it. Seeing the same people regurgitate the same old tired takes going since 2009 or so.

The team's in a total rebuild now, so most everyone is aware there will be pain over the next 2-3 seasons.

The real question now is if they can get their arena proposal approved. Which currently looks to be the end of November.

Imagine being the commissioner of alto sports league and being ok with this to the point where you can’t even public acknowledge how bad this is. Or try to spin it in any other direction.
