I hope some day to grow up to be perfect like some people on this forum... all the answers... '67 can you believe that out of all the experts on viruses in the entire world... we have a half dozen or so posters on this forum that know more than the scientists that spend a life time studying viruses... HFforum scientists read news articles and with their zero training on viruses are able to glean the information to determine "The TRUTH" .. the most knowledgeable experts on this planet...

I listen to the scientist and talk with medical Drs, state health officials and other medical professionals everyday and they tell me what the data says.
I don’t listen to politicians or their media wing on either side of the aisle.

An event that happens every 100 years? your standard for being unprepared is what? No deaths? No shutdowns? For some people it is their fault.

A massive breakout in NB was the result of a person not observing known isolation protocols after international travel, it was the persons fault.

To blame politicians is an easy out, Ford can't go to every house to make sure every person is respectful of their neighbors. Sometimes people have to take ownership of their neighborhood. Sometimes those antimaskers and antilock down asshats need to get a slap in the back of the head.

So not having enough PPE, ICU beds, ventilators, vaccine doses, pharmaceuticals while desperately employing lockdowns and begging the public is obviously very sound public health policy for a pandemic that has been predicted for the last 17 years since the last SARS epidemic in 2003.

Meanwhile other jurisdictions do seem to be providing health services. For example India has a case fatality rate of 1.4% while Canada is 2.6%. Maybe that has something to do with access to drugs.

Remarkable how many people can't separate political narrative from all of this.

Canada has almost 20% of its population over the age of 65. India has about 5%. You might want to factor that little tidbit into your numbers.

Go back and read my OP in the original coronavirus thread I started. I don't have any science education beyond high school, yet I knew back in January 2020 that this would be a global pandemic. I did know better than all the experts. I even told you all to stock up on toilet paper before it all hit the fan.

You knew better than ALL the experts eh? All of them, you knew better than MILLIONS of scientist? Well aren't you a national treasure...

Maybe India's numbers are not accurate.

Are the statistics on death accurate?

The number of coronavirus cases in India may be rising, but the mortality rate is dropping. According to the Health Ministry, deaths per 100 cases went from 4% in April to 2.15% in August, and is now under 2%.
But some experts warn that the data is full of gaps. India has a weak, underfunded public health infrastructure, and for years it has failed to accurately record the deaths of its own citizens.

Even when India isn't facing a pandemic, only 86% of deaths nationwide are even registered in government systems. And only 22% of all registered deaths get an official cause of death, certified by a doctor, said community medicine specialist Dr Hemant Shewade.

There are a few reasons behind this. The majority of people in India die at home or other places, not in a hospital, so doctors usually aren't present to assign a cause of death.

Why India's low Covid-19 mortality rates don't tell the whole story - CNN

So you want the government to spend hundreds of millions on PPE, ICU beds, ventilators, just to sit around in some warehouse, probably become defective from age.

Some day we are going to have a mass extinction event, comet hits the earth, Tsunami in the Atlantic, the super volcano in the Yellowstone park erupts, you want the government to spend todays money, hundreds of billions of dollars to mitigate events that are guaranteed to happen sometime, it could be one day from now or one million years in the future but we have no way of knowing when, we knew a pandemic was come, we had no idea of when. You have no issues with your tax dollars spiking so much it takes just about every penny you make.

I remember your 1st post and the WTF ??? comments. lol! However you did make it sound worse than it is.

That’s because the media wants them to.
There was about 1 week last March where they didn’t politicize it, and then both went back to normal.

There’s some rumblings that they won’t even bother with mass vaccinations based on the success of their regiment. Ivermectin and HCQ is very cheap

ya, I did think it was going to be worse than it turned out to be. it seemed way more deadly when it started spreading in Wuhan and then in Northern Italy.

we're actually really lucky that this virus isn't a lot worse, because the world would have been completely screwed had this virus caused more serious illness and more deaths in more people.

Yet they spend billions on LRT that no one will use, or fund useless art projects that no one cares about. God forbid they spend some money to ensure we have an adequate health care system in case of emergency.

They knew something was coming, WHO and medical experts know these things. Yet they still dropped the ball.

This overreaction to the “pandemic” is comical. They actually have to make up Covid deaths just to make the numbers look decent. They count someone dying with a positive Covid test as a Covid death, whether it was the cause of death or not.

Now they want to waste money on asymptotic testing? What a joke. What about people getting tested all the time? Is there a possibility that their nasal cavaties are being damaged from constantly having stuff stuck up there? Now they want to test kids? This is just being done to prop up the positive case numbers. The only numbers they should be using are ICU admissions and actually dealths caused by Covid.

WOW..

Some health jurisdictions started preparing December 2019.

Maybe that's why they were able to provide PPE to other provinces during 2020.

...

And yes, I'm sure some news sources have a bent or defined audience. I have an American relative who absolutely believes everything he sees on a particularly defined audience channel. I don't try and let facts get involved when talking with him. Be like telling people who listen to 3% of the scientists who disagree with the other 97%. They aren't looking for facts, they're looking for reinforcement of their opinions. "On no the contrails are thick today."

This is a few months old now but ...

Of course if someone doesn't want to believe it then what difference does it make?

It’s not a matter of not believing. I believe Covid exists and can be deadly to certain segments of the population. But when it can be asymptomatic in such a large percentage of people, than how deadly is it? I mean the strong majority of people dying from it are elderly people in long term care homes.

I have followed all the rules/guidelines etc., because I actually care about other people, but in the grand scheme of things the reaction and lockdowns have been extreme for what it truly is.

The fact they now want to test asymptotic people to increase the numbers is just disturbing. It’s hard to trust the people who have implemented all these restrictions yet went of vacations, had large family gatherings etc.

We were testing everyone earlier but stopped doing so probably 3 months ago. Before the December spike.

I think if people followed the recommendations most of the issues would calm down until the vaccine is available for everyone. Lying about having a medical condition so you don't have to wear a mask ... pathetic.

They seem to like the inexpensive Zinc, doxycycline and ivermectin kit, well for good reason.
I’m always careful when pharmaceutical board members are advising politicians on their public health response.

Vested interest.
