Cost $2 billion up front. I was told in Dec that the vaccine should last 8-10 yrs before requiring a booster. In January I heard we’ll need one every year because of these variants and mutations.

“Mask don’t stop the spread, mask saves lives, masks protect better than a vaccine, even vaccinated you’ll need a mask, although there’s no scientific data to support it - common sense says 2 mask are better than 1, you won’t need a mask after being vaccinated”

Sounds like a sales pitch for vaccines to me.....

Yes there is a list of meds that the gov plan covers but as you know there are other meds that may not be covered. The Shinles pneumonia vaccine are two that are covered but for close to 3 hundred you can get better ones....

Same with cortisone injections it's either free or 25 bucks but for $500 there is a better option... I got the better option of that as well and I forget the name. Needed a replacement hip anyway after two injections that cost me a grand.

I found prolotherapy very effective, rather than cortisone. Only get a twinge every once in a while and haven't had prolotherapy for about 10 years nows. Made a huge difference even after a single treatment. Had 6 treatments, one every 2 weeks? Been awhile. Now it was about $125 per treatment but covered under naturopathic.

We don't have a national drug program, although there is supposed to be one on the way.

There are private plans, and most employers of any size will usually have health care plans that do drugs and dental.

Hospital drugs are free (at least here in Alberta, can't speak for all provinces), and if you're lucky there are drugs-to-go, after leaving the hospital, and of course there are support groups that will cover some drugs for people who don't have drug plans.

What is lacking in health care, is dental care. Kind of silly, about the only part of the body that isn't covered is the mouth, unless it is by accident and then (in Alberta) we have dentists in the hospitals.
There is medication coverage for seniors.

Canadians have to pay for medications (prescriptions) unless a hospital gives it to you or your doctor gives you a sample.

Employers that have benefits usually cover 80% of prescription costs. But if you don’t have benefits, you have to pay the full cost. You can deduct it on your income tax filings though.

I knew that, I just like to hear people tell me it’s not actually free.

But of course, buses of Americans will tell you buying drugs in Canada is not the same as buying drugs in the USofA.

or a sales pitch for masks. What is the government going to do with all the ones they ordered and helped companies produce?

Yes, I have that one too, in Alberta.

It used to cover dependents, but Kenny did away with that.

And dental and vision care for seniors.
And housing subsidies for seniors.
Well if I had to pay for the hip replacement, i'd be looking into the housing....

If they can swim through the plastic.

I remember in the 70's one of the evening duties was throwing the trash bags off the ships while at sea. Streams of floating plastic garbage bags.

Ocean is endless right?
They try to tell me my coke bottle sneaks into the oceans from the little streams in my back yard. Could be, but somewhere along the way it goes through a printer or a relabeling process and gets another language printed all over it.

Everything on the earth is natural.

Now most of it will kill us, but wouldn't that be death by natural causes?

Honestly, I think we can clean up the planet, but I'm not sure we have the desire. Pretty sure the majority of the people don't care.

It’s not a matter of not believing. I believe Covid exists and can be deadly to certain segments of the population. But when it can be asymptomatic in such a large percentage of people, than how deadly is it? I mean the strong majority of people dying from it are elderly people in long term care homes.

I have followed all the rules/guidelines etc., because I actually care about other people, but in the grand scheme of things the reaction and lockdowns have been extreme for what it truly is.

The fact they now want to test asymptotic people to increase the numbers is just disturbing. It’s hard to trust the people who have implemented all these restrictions yet went of vacations, had large family gatherings etc.
Our testing in Ontario has dropped off a cliff but our positivity rate is slowly climbing again due to new variants which increase transmission ... if we tested more then people would see da 3rd wave is already started ... by mid March we will be in trouble again in Ontario especially with opening of schools which are a huge breeding ground for asymptomatic cases ... then it will hit our elders again in hospitalizations and deaths ... it was bound to happen as we open up again and it is

Well they just did testing of 3700 students in Ontario and got 32 positive cases (0.86% positivity rate). Seems pretty low to me, but yeah let’s keep blaming schools.

It’s certainly going to get a lot better for pharm and insurance companies over the next four years.
Almost 20 yrs ago, now, they put the clamps on what pharm companies can give providers. Limited to lunches and such. Long gone are the trips and expensive gifts. ...can’t even get pens unless i go to a convention.

Instead Big Pharm started putting the squeeze on legislators and health ministries around the world offering free "consultations" with lobbyists.

Yes outside GTA it means nothing ... zero ... but look at Peel where we had SA variant at Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario condo it started with 1 family and 2 cases a week ago now 55 families and elementary school where they all go about to be closed down ... if we checked Brampton right now it would be terrible too ... bottom line no one wants to go into these variant zones in GTA ... if you lived here you would get it here within a week ... but I agree across most of Ontario it is a complete joke shutting things down

Those included Toronto and Brampton. The numbers were ridiculously low. I know it’s a small sample size, but schools are hardly the culprit.

Get ur facts right there are over purported 30 cases already in 1 school which province came into condo last weekend in Mississauga to test entire building and yesterday they setup a field unit at school nearby ... there are massive amounts of adults sick with SA variant coming in from 1 condo ... it likely has already spread but it is bad ... come live down here and you will find out real fast

Its actually a good idea, we should just pass an emergency order that everybody should wear one from now on. Different beeps for different things. one beep you came in close contact with a disease carrier. 2 beeps you are in the area of a person with past psychological problems, 3 beeps the person next to you has been in prison. etc etc.Afterall it would be safer for society.

Don't forget what happens when it turns red though.

What else shall we pay for? We just make everything free right? This could be great for me. I can just stop working now and be taken care of. In the last few posts you've endorsed universal pharma, dental, I guess extra dental for seniors, housing subsidies for seniors. This in addition to the myriad of other benefits that someone that doesn't want to work can collect. Sounds like a dream come true, can't wait.

You can stop working anytime you want.

These programs already exist in Alberta, if you need them. Just like OAS has a means test. Not everyone gets OAS you know?

Pretty sure everyone gets it. They claw it back based on income. Not everyone gets GIS.

I'm holding out for UBI though. Wish we had all this when I was young. UBI, dental, medical, daycare, pharma, optical, rent subsidies, f'in eh. Sounds like a dream come true and it's all free!

A full round of treatment for COVID 19 using Ivermectin costs about $5. I realize the difference doesn't seem very large but if you're a pharmaceutical company selling millions of doses every penny counts. That $25 difference is huge when multiplied in the millions.

The full course of ivermectin is a fraction of pill?

Sounds like a true utopia of equality! Those who are more ambitious for other things in life like - you know, inventors, entrepreneurs, etc... you know, people who are integral to advancing humanity forward - will be receiving no reward whatsoever for any revolutionary work they do, they shall be treated equal to a crackhead robber on the street. True equality! It's free man!
