Thanks for your effort, there is very little published stats on how many people got it from a relative.
Sad about your grandmother, 2020 was indeed the worst year I have seen and had to go through. Bring on 2021.

"They haven't yet been able to show whether the vaccine prevents infection. So even when someone is vaccinated, they need to protect themselves and others."

- Ontario Associate Medical Officer, Dr. Yaffe

Nothing to see here. It doesn't prevent infection nor transmission....???

That’s not new. It prevents you from developing the Covid disease and if you do, you may not be as sick. Also it’s good for a number of years.

Vaccinated people will die from or with Covid.

The surge in cases isn't from a few house parties. It's from locking people at home. Every single infected person is now stuck indoors with their families. There is often a spike in cases a week after a lockdown order. Not overly surprising.
At first I would think that but then again I would think where family gatherings are concerned people would be cognizant and not attend if they felt ill or displayed symptoms. So now we are dealing with only the asymptomatic situations. Seems like the risk is small but I do agree it's not zero.

Add in your home would more than likely be spotless when the family is visiting. Relatives taking more care cleaning up after using the sink and washrooms, it just seems like it's not as dangerous as out in the public.

Anyway my children have more civil obedience than I, so the rules are being followed despite my feelings. :(

Exactly. So why take it? I'd rather just Ivermectin or HCQ/Azith/Zinc if I catch it, and no shot. Live life normally and not in fear.

I'm just saying that if any infected person went to any party, they were at home before and after.

In theory it all sounds good but we know many don't follow that. We had 2 people put on ventilators here in Niagara from family members coming from Toronto for a family gathering. It happens a lot more then people think.

It sucks not being able to have family over for Christmas.

You’d have to take those for a long period of time, I don’t know how long but at least as long as the virus is prevalent.
I think that’s between you and your doctors.
Elderly and vulnerable should take it now, though.

Nobody does. That's not what the point is. Are all you daft?????????

THE DIFFERENCE IS WHEN YOU ARE OUT IN PUBLIC EVEN IF YOU ARE AROUND A BUNCH OF STRANGERS, YOU ARE WEARING A MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. At home people don't do either of those things. When you invite people over you have a higher chance of getting Covid then you do lined up to get into a store. Which also explains the high number of cases coming from family gatherings.

Sorry for the yelling. My wife's grandmother passed away today from Covid. Yes she was older but she was perfectly healthy for her age til Covid. To see people everywhere trying to downplay measures and talking about conspiracy theories really irks me even more so now.

Sorry for your loss.

Everything else aside, the most important thing any of us can do for the foreseeable future is take the same level of precaution in our homes as we do in public.

I thought lockdowns stopped the spread?

this guy in the twitter responses has an infographic kind of explaining why

people, especially in north etobicoke (where the outbreak is actually the worst in the city) are not taking the 2nd lockdown seriously

also explains why downtown is still doing well but it's not going to last at the rate people are screwing up the measures

The worst part is that it's going to cause most of southern Ontario to be in lockdown very soon.

This is the number one thing you should never do without precautions. You have to have some interaction with family, but only with a small bubble of family members and stay away from the vulnerable. Especially if youre in the working class or a college student.

I don’t understand why public health officials and policy makers have not been not been beating this drum.

I have not seen some family members or been within 10 feet of others during all this and won’t until they are inoculated.

they should add the seasonality context as well.

Agreed. Its why having people over right now isn't a good idea

You keep saying this over and over and over yet you've stated on here you plan on having people over for Christmas. I'm not. In fact, I haven't had a single friend or family member over this year. Maybe practice what you preach? You know, before preaching.

Eh, I'm pretty sure stealth said it was only with one other family, which I don't think is unacceptable, even if it "breaks" the rules. I don't agree with him on a lot, but I think his views are pretty consistent.

They're 100% telling us not to do that and he himself says it's the number one spreader of Covid right now.

I am not sure what lockdown means in Ontario, but here it means you don't go to any home except your own.
You don't bring home a virus from a party because you aren't at a party.
Only people permitted in your home are the permanent residents of your home. Except to individuals who live alone who can designate 2 individuals to visit. The same 2 not Bob and Carol one week Ted and Alice the next.
You don't do anything except go out to get essential goods, while you are masked and social distancing.
If required you go to your job, although anyone who can should work from home as requested by the provincial government.
