I'm not the biggest fan of the main character but man I wish we had more Baylan coming after this season. Dude is awesome. His style of fighting is like the Mountain in GoT. Just sheer power. Two handed saber stuff.

Like I said on the entertainment board, it's sad that Ray Stevenson won't be able to see all the love he's getting from Star Wars fans. As much as I love Ahsoka and the Rebels crew, Baylan is easily the most compelling character in the show.

It's f***ing amazing and I love him so much. It makes me so sad every time I watch an episode that he is dead. Also yeah ashoka the character sucks compared to her rebels and clone wars portrayal. Sabine and everyone else is vast very well at least.

Ehh, not seeing it with the Baylan love. His character is as underwritten as everything else. People seeing what they want to see out of love for Ray, who was great in so many things.

It’s very disappointing so far, Filoni kind of seems like he lost his touch. I also think it’s unwise to start off the show with three characters who are mildly annoyed with each other, a fact which has to be reiterated every scene in which nothing happens.

In general, Disney’s approach here with all these shows has really drained some good ideas. Andor was very good, so I hope they learn from that and go slower, go bigger and better. I feel bad for a lot of these actors who are stuck with some real shit dialogue and bad CGI.

Disney to their credit gave the production of Andor completely over to Tony Gilroy who is an actual phenomenal writer and director. They allowed him an almost auteur level of control over what the show could do, at least as much as Disney could concede. And no wonder it’s the best Star Wars thing since The Last Jedi. You bring in quality talent and the results should follow.

It’s pretty evident the other Disney + shows shopped the bargain bin for talent, notwithstanding the first since of Mando which had a heavy dose of Favreu at the helm.

Ashoka is no Andor but it is much better than all of the other starwars tv shows so far with the exception of Mando season 1 perhaps. Ashoka is just Rebels season 5, which it is amazing for Rebel fans like me. Also Baylen is so cool, interesting, and being so in the grey like he is makes it so much better.

The casting is great for the most part with the exception of Ashoka's actor. General, Sabine, Baylen, ect are great.

Stumbled on an old Veruca Salt song that instantly brought me back to the mid-90s. I have vague memories of listening to that album in a Blockbuster Music. With my limited budget, it didn't have quite enough songs to justify buying.

Interesting tidbit I learned was that one of the leads dated David Grohl and he wrote Everlong about her.

Ahsoka episode 5

My Review: GahdDAYUMN

10 out of 10 happy Danos

I’m a first generation fan who didn’t watch the cartoons. I’ve had ok interest in the series so far until the end of the last episode. On a scale of The Lighthouse to a Genucel commercial involving seven Dano clones how much will I enjoy it?

Shame, you gotta watch the animated shows. It makes this show LEGENDARY.

This is Dano raising the Stanley Genucel Cup level of enjoyment.

I recommend this recap of Rebels and Clone Wars before continuing Ahsoka

Thanks. I’ll watch that when I have some time tomorrow night after work. I have only watched a bit of Star Wars animation mostly because my boys never quite got into it. We did watch the Gerry Tartrovsky (spelling?) Clone Wars shorts which were pretty good and actually tied into Episode 3 which I found interesting. Maybe a little bit of whatever animated series came next but it just fizzled out in my house.

Gendy Tartakovsky? He is great animation director. Hotel transylvania is a great animation movie, especially 2 and 3 part(4th isnt).
I'm a big fan of his Samurai Jack. Some episodes are stunning. And his new TV show Primal, especially first season. Its about man and dinosaur. TV show without words about surviving.
He is always great with animation, visual humor and composition.

I watched roughly half of Clone Wars because of my kiddo and I haven't seen any of Rebels outside the first ep. and I'm barely grasping what's so great about all of this and what it all means. It's heavily fan servicing for the folks who are big fans of the toons. This is the flip side of the Andor coin - deep in the force/mystic vibes. It's still a fun watch but I feel like I'm not getting half of what's being shown because I don't have the decoder ring.

Baylon is cool, but I can't help but feel like he's a ripoff of Count Dooku. A wise old graybeard jedi that became disillusioned with their ways and fell to the dark side.

Ray's performance is great and him passing away definitely changes how people view the performance. But Baylon hasn't actually done that much, just sitting around looking pensive while ordering his psycho apprentice to do his dirty work.

The speech he gave Sabine in EP 4 was nice but I was expecting more.

yes, he did a series of shorts just before episode 3 of the prequels released so maybe early 2000s? It was definitely in the style of Samurai Jack to my eyes. Long on visuals and not much dialogue. It tied into episode 3 which subtly made it part of the main Star Wars story which I found interesting as an adult. In the last cartoon episode he did, General Grievous is being force choked by some Jedi (maybe Anakin? I can't recall the specifics) but he gets away. When you see him initially in the movie he is coughing as a result of the force choke. subtle but it was noticeable if you had watched the cartoon. I don't see those shorts on Disney Plus but maybe I missed them? They'd be worth a watch to a fan of the movies since they featured characters from the movies as opposed to the characters featured in the animation like Ashoka.
