If you are in the mood for being angry and/or depressed I'd suggest two new documentaries, Shiny, Happy People on Prime Video, which is about the Duggars; and Take Care of Maya on Netflix, which is about parents fighting for custody of their child, who has a rare disease, after they're accused of child abuse. The latter really pissed me off.

My wife just watched the Netflix one and the way she described it, I was like…. Why would I want to torture myself by watching that?!??

I had no idea what it was about before watching it, only that somebody I follow on Twitter mentioned it pissed him off, so naturally the masochist in me was curious.

I watched one of Sebastian Maniscalco's comedy specials afterwards just to lighten my mood.

Oh, the Arnold doc on there is pretty good too.

That's the same as every Wes Anderson movie.
I thought Grand Budapest was cohesive and linear. French Dispatch was crafted such that the vignettes were relatively logical and flowed. This just had moments where it ground to a halt or was so esoteric it didn't seem to make sense.

Let me guess, you will bold my last sentence and just say that's the same as every Wes Anderson movie.

At least it wasn't the Lighthouse.

I agree with you on those two. What I had in mind were more things like Darjeeling Limited (overly self-indulgent) and Steve Zissou (just plain weird at times, even for him). The Royal Tenenbaums was great though, maybe one of the funniest movies ever.

I just watched the curious case of Natalia Grace, that was a wild one, the adoptive father is easily one of the most unlikable people I've ever seen in a documentary.

Just reading about the Cleveland woman who went to Puerto Rico for 8 days and left her 18 month old girl alone at home was enough of humanity pissing me off for a week. No thanks.

Started the Arnold series on Netflix. I like the way it's produced.

Since the Titanic sub story I came across this as well, another crazy awful story, I just started it but the footage is interesting because it starts off with the crew who wasn't on board upset about this sub sinking and then happy that the driver Pete is ok but then confused why the journalist Kim is missing...

Was stuck in a long line at Chick-Fil-A, so I put on "Trapped in a Drive Thru" by Weird Al. I was laughing along but my cousin didn't seem to understand the parody. Took me a minute to remember that it was based on R.Kelly's "Trapped in a Closet." That was fun having to explain "So R.Kelly tried to make this rap opera....."

It’s been a trailer heavy 2 days.

Ahsoka trailer increases my interest from mild to interested.

The Wonka trailer made me think Chalamet is going to own the winter box office.

Napoleon trailer gave me Master and Commander vibes, which is positive from my perspective.

Blue Beetle looked fine but kind of generic.

Twisted Metal trailer was better than the first. Seems more like a different silly adventure each episode, which would work for me when I want an unserious show to breeze through.

Dune 2 trailer was a bit ago but looked great. May try to get to a premium theater for it.

My son mentioned a new Willy Wonka. Is it Gene Wilder vibe or Johnny Depp vibe? Both were unsettling but Depp was creepy and weird unsettling. Wilder was more threatening.

I think the vibe isn’t strongly Wilder or Depp but leaning more Wilder if I had to choose.

The Bear on FX is an amazing show for so many reasons. Great characters great lines, great actors. Love it.

We just finished watching the second season. Awesome show.

In addition to the things you mentioned, I also like how the way it is filmed and edited really captures the frenetic pace and barely controlled chaos of being in an overwhelmed restaurant kitchen.

The shots of them preparing food are gorgeous too. As someone who likes to cook, it's cool to see things like that which I know are way beyond my level.

What you said and also the quick ASMR moments when they are preparing food.

Spiderverse movie was awesome. Such a great experience, really inspiring.

Really don’t know why Hollywood can’t put that level of care into more things. Or I know why but it seems like bad business either way.
