Any MTG players in here? I was really big into it from back in the mid-2010s when I had co-workers I used to play with. I started around Return to Ravnica and I think the last set I played with was Eldritch Moon. I know there was a cool Egypt-themed set right after I stopped playing with some fun Nicol Bolas cards.

But I want to get back into it now and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about how the meta has changed, or if it's even worth it right now. I haven't really been plugged into this scene for a while but apparently there was some controversy with WotC about some stuff they did on their business side?

@AfroThunder396

I was a big MTG fan but I don’t have a lot of time for games anymore so have ended up playing more deck building games like Dominion, 7 Wonders, or Race for the Galaxy.

They scratch my deck building/card game itch really well. The above games don’t really have direct attacking of an opponent though.

I did just buy Shards of Infinity which came highly recommended and I believe includes direct attacks on the opponent. I’m looking forward to trying it out someday.

Not since I was in high school, so I can't tell you anything about the current game, or really anything past the Urza's Saga block.

Brings back some memories though. I had a really good Elf-based deck that was capable of generating infinite damage on the first or second turn given the right draw.

Wonder if the some of the old rare cards are worth something these days.

First 4 episodes of Hell's Paradise have been fantastic. Wasn't even on my radar but heard great things, glad I checked it out. Hell's Paradise comes out every Saturday, Demon Slayer every Sunday, it's a great time

Do you watch in subs or dubs? I've tried to watch some anime here and there and I either can't stand how out of sync dubs can be or cause I usually watch TV later on at night just don't feel like reading subs so I usually end up just watching something else.

I much prefer subs personally. Sometimes I have to rewind a bit to catch everything but I just find it much better in almost all cases. But I completely get why people like dubs too.

I switched over and play the MTG arena online game. I stopped buying cards as I was only really ever playing my son with my old cards from the 90s. I do have some valuable cards like some dual lands and stuff. I had gotten into around when Ice Age came out. The game has changed a bit as they are always tweaking it, some time for the good and sometimes for the bad. But I still play often.

Hi,

I am having surgery on June 1, and I will be sore for 2 to 3 weeks. I will spend most of the days in bed. I have Netflix, Prime and other streaming services. I like Westerns, Crime and sports movies.

Any suggestions, your favorites? Thank you.

For newer stuff

Netflix has Night Agent - government/crime
Prime has Citadel - Spy thriller show from the Russo brothers
Paramount + has Rabbit/Hole - conspiracy with Kiefer Sutherland

I will dive deeper for more suggestions. I’ve enjoyed all 3 shows. Good luck with your surgery!

Western - The English on Amazon Prime.

I never heard of it but it has Emily Blunt and was made with the BBC. Dances with Wolves meets Out of Africa and a touch of Last of the Mohicans and homage to Sergio Leone's style. I'm 3 ep in and loving it. 6 ep mini series.

Apple TV has a 3 month trial, you can sign up and then just write down a note to cancel but crime wise Black Bird and Defending Jacob are both good and then Ted Lasso sports wise. Plenty of other great shows on there too, For All Mankind, See and Servant are some of my other favorites but not the genres you said.

Good luck with the surgery, hope you feel better asap afterwards!

@Maine Fan

Black Bird was fantastic. Based on a true story where a prisoner is given a chance to be free if he can get another prisoner to admit to the crimes he has been accused of.
