Yeah man, any of the big four in the draft landing in this team's lap, I'm jumping for joy.

Just. Finish. Bottom. Four.

Finishing 4th last has nearly a 66% chance of actually picking at 5 or 6. There’s really not a big difference between 3rd or 4th, or 4th or 5th, and there’s no hopes of finishing lower than that. I really would not get too torn up about where we place as long as it’s in that 4-6 range.

Pens after the next 2 drafts will have more quality to work with. Dubas did bring in much more quantity but now the needs are top 6 forwards/centers. Not much history of teams trading top 4 picks so Pens in say top 7 still get a very good player. But looking at Misa, he is a dynamic center. McQueen or one of the other centers is still a positive. I do think Dubas will be active to get into the top 12 besides the Rangers pick if there. Rust to Detroit perhaps.

We’re gonna suck for a bit so I’m just interested in amassing talent. Centers will come eventually if we don’t get one with either pick this year. Can also always sign FAs.

In the long run it probably doesn't matter. But most scouts feel there's a drop after the top 5 then another drop off from 15-2×. Seems like it would be a good idea to get that second first inside the top 15. If the cost isn't exorbitant.

Idk I can think of a lot worse ways to use a #6 pick than drafting a 6'6" defenseman putting up 33 points in 38 games in the WHL in his draft year

I'm still hoping they finish #4 or #5 because I'd be extremely happy with either Martone or Frondell. I think anyone you could pick at #6 would be a decent step down from those two

Realistically, I hope people start putting out hit pieces on James Hagens like they did Shane Wright. We are potentially picking 4th - 6th. I think logically you see Schaefer and Misa go 1 and 2 and then potentially someone falls in love with Frondell or Martone at 3. Getting Hagens at 4 would be so so huge for us.

How is Mrtka a "safe pick"? Desnoyers would be more of the "safe pick" at that range.

Mrtka is a in season riser because of his size and production this year.

Don’t want anything to do with him in the top ten unless we are picking like 9th.

Frondell is likely going to the U18s and probably nobody else slated in the top 8 will for various reasons so scouts are going to have him dominating kids fresh in their memory.

Hagens is just having a somewhat disappointing draft year, but Kessel did too. And someone on the prospects forum pointed out that BC’s PP is uncharacteristically bad this year, which yeah he’s a big part of, but that’s the primary difference in production compared to Will Smith last year.

The 2022 draft, to date, has been garbage. And there's few bright spots on the horizon.

Shame there's no "this guy's arguably number 1 and a potential superstar but he's gonna drop to like 6th because he's Russian" kid in this draft. Could really use a freebie Michkov or Demidov.
