I love both games. Waiting on the first season to be done to watch the show.

Liked a lot of stuff lately.

Atlanta finale was a nice one. Gonna miss those four, they’re all some of my favorite characters ever.

Really enjoyed both seasons of White Lotus. So glad that Mike White is getting his due after so long.

Severance is great. Ben Stiller is a fantastic director. Great cast, intriguing.

Alice in Borderland - interesting dark premise, very entertaining if a bit absurd.

Curb > Seinfeld all day. But I was never a laugh track, 90s sitcom guy.

Sad but not surprised about the Rick and Morty issues. I don’t think it will be close to the same but you could tell he was unhealthy along a few dimensions every time they showed BTS footage.

Finally watched the Glass Onion / Knives Out movies. Total garbage. Rian Johnson is a hack.

Tar was incredible. Todd Field is in my view one of the best directors this country has ever produced and the guy’s made three films. Sad or badass, I can’t decide.

Banshees of Inisherin was also pretty unforgettable.

about the laugh track, M*A*S*H has a history

...tell it like it is, right

“I always thought it cheapened the show," said series developer Larry Gelbart. "The network got their way. They were paying for dinner.”

Banshees of Inisherin was a weird f***ing movie. I get that it's an allegory for the Irish Civil War, but still really weird.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Cutb and Seinfeld. Curb is not restricted in format the way Seinfeld was and Seinfeld is a creature of its time. To me they have some overlap and some differences. I’d say that Curb has an advantage because it focuses solely on Larry. If Seinfeld focused solely on George it might be a different discussion. My kids all prefer Curb and yet each will admit that George Costanza is probably the single funniest character in thr history of television. Jason Alexander was brilliant. Seinfeld’s biggest problem was Seinfeld. He’s not a good actor and as a straight man to Kramer and George he was ok but not great. He had moments but they were just that. Magic Loogie reenactment and latex salesman were his two best moments to me. Of course as moments go it’s hard to top those two for me. Elaine was another straight man added to diversify the cast. I never found her all that funny but at least the writers stumbled upon Puddy because of her. Not that it’s definitive but years later you stil have Seinfeld fans coming up with new show plots and ideas on social media and Reddit. I’m not sure Curb is quite there yet.
I think I just like Larry more with his particular quirks and the show feels more autobiographical / real and thus the laughs more intense just because of the way it was done. I could see myself loving Seinfeld if it were in the same style. Never minded any of the characters or plots, but tough for me to get past network TV-isms. Outside of HBO, never got into any non cartoon big 4-5 cable network shows.

He's a great filmmaker...just not Star Wars. Although I'm one of the minority that actually liked the Luke/Rey/Kylo stuff in TLJ. The rest of the movie was a complete waste of time. I've liked everything else he's done though.

Can’t agree there. I think he understands Star Wars better than pretty much anyone. TLJ is definitely my favorite Star Wars anything and it’s not even really close for me. Off the bat it was up there for me because I thought the the stuff you mentioned was just so strong and my favorite stuff in the franchise but it wasn’t my 1 just yet. Then the more I watched the movie and thought about it the more the rest of it worked for me as well and the peaks are easily the highest in the franchise for me. I also don’t think you’d be in the minority for that stuff. There’s a split on the Luke stuff but I think the Rey/Kylo stuff the majority enjoyed.

All of the sequel trilogy was bad, but at least TLJ managed to be mediocre in fresh and interesting ways as opposed to stale and uninspired ways.

TFA was bad because is was boring and lazy, TLJ was bad not because it was a bad film but because it didn't fit in with Star Wars, and TROS was bad because it was just horribly written and made no sense from any angle you look at it.

If Star Wars 9 had been anywhere close to competent I think people would have looked back at TLJ a lot more favorably. A lot of people for get that ESB was pretty controversial upon release, there was a lack of closure and a lot of the story beats didn't make sense in isolation. It's only through hindsight that it's remembered as the best one.

Johnson had some interesting ideas, but Star Wars fans don't want interesting ideas. They want Kenobi's and Skywalker's doing melodramatic anime battles over """good""" and """evil""" for the rest of time.

I enjoy TLJ as a stand alone movie but the movie struggles, for me, as being part of a larger story/franchise and stays too surface level to be really impactful.

I think Luke feeling a failure and scared of how much power/influence he had is interesting but I don’t feel like the movie delved into it in an interesting way.

I don’t think Leia saving herself is impossible(since it’s all made up anyway) but it feels pretty overpowered and looks kind of silly, for me.

I think it generally has too much going on and too many characters. A tighter story going deeper into the most interesting parts of the story probably would have been helpful.

Snoke’s mystery was interesting to me, so to throw him away was a waste to my interests.

I think both Luke and Kylo trying to convince Rey to forge a new path forward is interesting but I don’t feel like either gave arguments that felt compelling to myself so wasn’t sure why any of them had come to their conclusion.

Since we were breaking conventions, I’m unsure why Rey doesn’t end up choosing to team up with Kylo, despite her reservations. I think the movie was logically leading there and would have been interesting to explore going forward.

I think the fight with the red guards looks really cool…but it’s also nonsense. You can have a cool fight scene that also mostly works on a rational level.

So I enjoy TLJ but I think it’s a mess when it comes to the trilogy, which is Disney’s fault more than anyone else’s. I’d be excited to see a whole trilogy that Johnson gets to do on his own.

I can totally understand people not enjoying the movie even if that’s not my opinion.

TLJ is also a better sequel than Glass Onion is. Glass Onion makes me think Johnson started with a fun idea of a clever movie masquerading as a dumb one but didn’t realize he went 360 degrees at the end of the day rather than 180 degrees.

TLJ also suffers from trying being so clever that it circles back around to dumb at times, imo.

I would generally agree with this. I don't think TLJ is a bad movie, but it's narrative whiplash to go from what is essentially a remake of ANH to this move, and then from this movie to whatever the hell Abrams came up with in TROS.

Star Wars needs a Kevin Fiege, someone with vision, stability, and continuity. Asking individual film makers to pick up someone else's story and figure it out is not a good way to write big long story arcs. Maybe Filoni and Favreau are the guys, the Disney+ shows have been fantastic.

I think a Rian Johnson Star Wars trilogy would have been cool. Knives Out was phenomenal, Glass Onion was fun but nowhere near as good. Janelle Monae really carried the film. In Knives Out the twist was given early enough to actually create a new tension, whereas here the twist was given up late as a revelation. So instead of "oh no, how will she get out of this" you're just like "oh, that's kind of cool, didn't see that coming." The reveal was just too late for me to really care.

Andy Serkis was bummed about Last Jedi but gave props to Andor.

Andor, for me, started slow but I loved it by the end. The episodes that Serkis was in were great. I really enjoyed both sides having good, bad, and amoral characters; brings the story to life.

Watching Curb now and I’m on about episode 10 or so in season 3. Took a few to get into it but I really like it now. One minor gripe is that he’s playing himself, the very rich Larry David but he drives around in a Toyota Corolla all day

He also drives a Prius and a BMW i3. His house is nice but I’m sure his real house is an absolute palace. I imagine he wants to appear like a bit of a loser which is hard if you have a solid gold bidet with an attendant ine entry foyer powder room.

Solid start to the season. A few minor quibbles, but it feels good to have this show back.

Space whales! Filoni, you crazy bastard.

The pirate captain was way too Pirates of the Caribbean for me. I was hoping it was going to be Hondo after seeing the pirates, but alas.

I laughed out loud at Grieff going "Whatever you say" when Dinn said his name was Grogu. I will never not call him baby Yoda.

I want to finish Drive to Survive first since the F1 season starts this week, but I’m pumped for Mando, especially because Andor was so great I needed to scratch that star wars itch.

Gorillaz released their new album. As always good record.

And some times before Mars Volta released their new album after 10 years of silence. Great record. There are no shade of chaotic\drive MV they were before, but now they are making great song. I like previous album more, but still they are great music makers. That sounds more melancholic and soft, but with more music idea by simplier tools. People who likes more traditional progressive rock should find something interesting for themselves in their music. Their older records were good and interesting too, but they could be over intensive for people who likes low tempo music.

The new episodes on Netflix were ok, and they provided some more resolution to the story of the Bluth family than the original series run did, but what you've heard is correct. The Netflix episodes didn't capture quite the same magic as the original.
One of the issues is when they came back on Netflix the most recent season was called PART ONE and there was supposed to be another slate of episodes and it just disappeared completely .

New Attack On Titan finally

First Mars Volta EP and LP changed my life and put me on the path to do what I do these days. I'm seeing Deloused on a lot of classic albums list more and more each year, as well. I saw them on their most recent tour and they've still got it.
