OK, in my opinion, Rings of Power is actually getting better. Since now they have introduced the characters and are moving towards a major conflict.

That would make sense. Apparently they are planning a Deadpool 3 however.
It's already in at least pre-production and I'm guessing full speed ahead given that the release date is less than a year away.

They'd be idiots to not capitalize on the franchise. It's also a pretty obvious way to introduce Colossus if not Beast or dare I say it, Wolverine. Reynolds has been talking shit for almost a decade about those two being in a film together again.

Apparently they're even capitulating on the no cursing rule for the film.

Got to see the boys last night in Chicago, they did not play Howl so I didn't get to yell " you suck " in a middle of a crowd where no one would know wtf I was talking about

Deadpool 3 date revealed…. And Hugh Jackman confirmed to return to play Wolverine one more time…
The amount of steroids have definitely shaved a few years off that man's life.

He's like the Man vs Food guy. I don't think you can go that hard then just stop cold turkey repeatedly.

Meanwhile if this is more than a brief cameo I'll be ecstatic.

I have a date to see Don't Worry Darling on Friday with my wife. There's no chance it's going to be anywhere near as interesting as the multiple PR snafus it's suffered, but maybe I'll be surprised. If not, at least I can drink while watching, since Nitehawk Cinema serves alcohol.

Prob gonna be crap but damnit, Michael looks great.

It will definitely be crap, if the last movie was any indication. When was the last good Halloween movie? IMO, you can't really replicate what made the first one great. Part of what made it so legendary was because it was so low budget. Making it a multi movie franchise set over decades puts it further and further away from its original greatness.

I think he's contractually obligated to play Wolverine because Disney has to respect the 20th Century contract that kept the original actors in place until 2025. I believe Jackman has said he had no interest in playing the character again, but if the studio wants it he legally can't say no.

I have to admit that I'm mildly curious about Deadpool 3, which is more than I can say about any MCU movie ever. I mean, it's the friggin' X-Men. Plus, I saw the first one in theaters with a friend visiting from Australia, and they wanted to see it because it wasn't released there yet. So it holds a place in my heart.

At the time, I thought Deadpool was great. But when I watched it again a couple months ago as background noise while working from home, I gotta say... it's just another superhero movie. It doesn't feel novel anymore because the fourth wall breaking, quips cranked up to 11, and its not-at-all serious tone have been integrated into the general formula. Between Deadpool and Logan (which really pioneered the concept that superhero movies can be "real movies" worthy of Oscar buzz a year before Black Panther), Disney/Marvel Studios cribbed off of Fox's notes more than their diehards would like to admit.

Still, it'll be the X-Men in a proper movie for the first time in four years. Even a hardened MCU cynic like me can appreciate that.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think House of the Dragon is losing me. The multiple huge time skips mid-season and glossing over major plot points that happen during that time feels like lazy storytelling to me. I've seen people complain about the pacing on Rings of Power being too slow, but for me it's House of the Dragon that is too fast, just hasn't been keeping my attention the way the earlier GoT seasons did.

Even more unpopular opinion, but I'm not even bothering with House of the Dragon. The way that Game of Thrones wrapped up totally lost me from that franchise.

I felt the same way, seasons 1-4 GoT was sopranos-tier greatness. 5/6/7 had moments, 8 was embarrassing. HOTD is worth a watch.

FWIW I've heard that HBO wants to wash the stink of GoT Season 8 as much as possible for HotD and whatever other spinoff shows they're making. They're very aware of its reception.

HOTD is basically done with time jumps, if that helps.

Apparently, for the source material, they were doing entire episodes based on about 1 page in the book to give us an understanding of the back story.

They could have reasonably started the series at where the last episode started but I think our understanding of the characters will be richer and more enjoyable for having the background filled in; even though it meant a lot of time jumps.

The narrower scope of the show feels a little monotonous for now. I tend to like shows to be on the serious side, but even I'm feeling like we're missing a Tyrion kind of character to bring some levity and wit. I've never read the books so maybe that's coming?

Kinda wish you guys would stop going into detail as minimal as it may seem.

[ SPOILER ] story line here [ /SPOILER ] without the spaces is how you do it just in case some are unaware.

The thing is, it doesn't really matter what happens during the time skips. This has basically all been setting up the main players for the events that do matter. The entire first episode was basically like a single paragraph in the source materal, and the first half of this season was like 20 pages. They've said they're planning on 3 seasons to tell this story, so that's still like 24 episodes (assuming they stick to 10 episode seasons) of stuff coming.

i also haven't bothered with this or rings of power, partially because I'm beyond busy with work and other stuff to do, but mostly because i just haven't seen any real reason to want to watch them, I grew up reading both series but for some reason just can't bother to put in the time commitment needed to see if i'll even like it

Adam.

No offense but I was friends with the guy so I won't divulge further other than to say that after each season there were pretty brutal detoxes and withdrawls.

I can't imagine that what Jackman has gone through is more pleasant. He's not a large guy by any stretch at his 'walking around weight'.

Adam was a good host. I liked his other show also. I wish him well. Hopefully none of that indulging leaves a permanent mark.

From what I’ve heard, it’s quite boring and the writers are very inexperienced- certainly no experience with something as big as a Lord of the Rings entry. So you’re not missing much.

I don't like the pacing either. With all the stuff they have already covered (or just glossed over) I really think they could have made this season 2 seasons. With that said, I am still enjoying it.

The odd thing is they’ve expanded things for the TV show. In the book most of the things that have happened were only a couple of sentences without the context the show gave.
