Just finished episode 3 of station eleven. I am really just done with the show. It continues to jump all over the place and back and forth with random story lines that really are not interesting at all.

Not that I had much investment in the show anyway.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is incredible on Veep as the endlessly petty, cutthroat, and potty-mouthed Selina Meyer. Probably her best performance since Elaine on Seinfeld. I think she was nominated for or won a couple Emmys and they are well deserved.

If you like political satire, another older one from the UK that you might want to check out is Yes Minister. It's an 80s era critique of government bureaucracy, short-sighted politicians, and cynical civil servants, and much of it still holds up well today.

appreciate the rec:)

Not a football fan (kinda hate it honestly) but Bill Walsh's book, The Score Takes Care of Itself, is fantastic.

Really interesting to read while being a fan of a team that's rebuilding. A bit of overlap with Lou's thinking (who we know was influenced by Lombardi) but the difference between the two, to me, is that Walsh seemed a bit more continuously innovative and receptive. Also just a great read for its outlook on life and getting better at whatever it is you do.

I would kill for a similar book written by Lou, which will never happen.

We started watching Broad City. I've seen episodes here and there and thought they were funny, but never watched the show through. My wife tried watching it before and thought it was weird.

So far in the first season it is weird, but I know it does get better. Sticking with it for now.

Episode 2 of Book of Boba Fett was better than the first one. It had a very Lawrence of Arabia meets Western vibe to it. And they dropped at least one comic book reference for the geeks (although from a series I haven't read).

Also, I think that was Fixer and Cammie in Tosche Station. So even dropping some more obscure references.

The first two seasons are excellent. Some of the funniest TV I’ve seen.

The third season starts well, and it ends well, but the middle is pretty weak and has one of the most obvious “jump the shark” moments in TV history. You’ll know it when you see it. It’s also the scene that most people refer to when talking about Broad City, which is a shame. It really does start brilliantly but that overshadowed everything.

I watched halfway through the fourth season and didn’t bother watching the rest.

It is weird, and it makes a lot less sense if you haven't spent time in Park Slope. Not saying you haven't, that's just my take.

They were trying to be the female, updated version of Seinfeld and did a pretty good job imo. But there was a 'hipster' backlash at some point so most of the country couldn't give a shit.

From personal experience though, Ilana Glazer is one of the most pleasant human beings I've ever met.

Yeah, the disclaimer is that you’re going to get a lot more mileage from Broad City if you’ve actually lived in NYC. It does a decent job of describing the neighborhoods for the uninitiated (like the Upper East Side).

The Fallout TV show is moving forward at Amazon. It’s a great IP to turn into a tv show, I think. If it were me, I’d do a new original story set in that universe, not recreate a game story.

Amazon has so many new shows and movies that I haven’t heard a damn thing about. The only one I heard of is Harlem and that’s because of a cringey clip that went viral.

Love the post apocalyptic setting and idea of Fallout but could never play because I dislike the RPG elements of games like itself. Excited to hear about this and of course The Last of Us filming finally.

That makes sense. I haven't lived there, but I do know people who have and I think I know the type.

Regarding Station 11: Good premise... REALLY tried to like it. Can't do it.

Hey friends... I am really pumped about this song I just put out and want to get the word out about it. This song is called "A Jersey Scene" and if you were a fan of early 2000's emo/pop punk... this could have been the soundtrack to your teenage years.

My music is instrumental because my singing is terrible and I would rather focus on the music. I hope you enjoy this. It can only be classified as a cage free farm fresh BANGER.

Yes, this photo is high school Andrew with frosted tips and a shark tooth necklace. What an asshole.

Weeb simp :sarcasm:

 She's Korean, so I don't think it quite works here. Simp? Hmmmm, yeah very possibly lol.

I wish she did anime openings. That would be awesome. I'm not the biggest fan of the gospely style, but there is just no denying her voice. And it feels very real/authentic. She does a great job connecting with her audience. Better than Mariah Carey and every bit as good, if not better than, Whitney Houston.

Probably not watching it anyway, but I think it won't work well as a tv show unless there are people behind it that actually understand a thing or two about the franchise. Hope they prove me wrong though.

If Amazon handles Fallout like they did Wheel of Time, I'm not really that excited. Although fantasy is probably harder to adapt to screen, so maybe Fallout will be easier.

Just wait till their LoTR series comes out

Yeah all Amazon series are crap and I don't trust them at all

I thought they did pretty good with Man in the High Castle. Marvelous Mrs Maisel is good too.

But they are definitely not the first streaming service I think of for great TV.

The Boys, Jack Ryan, and Bosch are pretty good too, but I don't really trust them with something like LOTR, which has seemed like a bad idea from the start or Fallout. Hope I'm wrong because I really like both franchises.

Man in the high castle started out okay, but their casting was horrible for the main characters and then not to mention the horrible ending and last season.

Such a huge disappointment with such an amazing book and potential

Now that I think about it, I don't know if I ever finished the last season of that show. What I saw was pretty good, and maybe let's say it was right for the cultural moment when it came out. It might not hold up as well on a rewatch.
