Every single shift, McDavid was doing something big offensively. I haven't seen Eichel play other than the WJC but jeez now you know why this kid was hyped up. Every shift and I'm not even kidding, he's blazing into the offensive zone getting the defence on their heels.

Eichel was better than McDavid at the WJC, and Eichel has been tremendous, just dominating at this WJC camp. McDavid is more electrifying, but Eichel is no less effective.

Sure Eichel has been good but McDavid, every single shift he has been great to watch. McDavid might not show it on his stats but every single shift he's the best player on the ice and there is a significant difference between when another player touches the puck and when McDavid touches the puck.

You just said you haven't seen Eichel except for the WJC, so how do you know? Eichel is great to watch every shift, and every shift he's the best player on the ice, and there is a significant difference between when another player touches the puck and when Eichel touches the puck.

This is a very intriguing duel. There has been a few examples where two athletes are coming up around the same time and push each other to unexpected levels. Let's hope that's the case here.

One of the best ways to evaluate Eichel for me currently is to compare him to Fasching who I am more familiar with. I think most people would agree Fasching will be a pro player and likely an above average one at that. With that said, even though Fasching is almost 2 years older and more physically mature he's not even close to being as effective as Eichel as a player. At Minnesota last year Fasching would often make something happen shift in and shift out so I am very curious to see just how dominating Eichel will be in a couple of months.

Firstly, Eichel's highlights and points were ridiculously good. Secondly, since when is a highlight reel a good way of scouting?
8 points in 2 games say he was pretty darn good do they not?

I'm not scouting him, I'm just saying he was good.

8 points in 2 games is more than "good". You said Eichel was good but McDavid is X, Y, and Z. I'm saying that Eichel is also X, Y, Z.

Yeah of course it was actually a "darn" good performance by Eichel. I was originally posting what I've seen from McDavid before you've quoted me.

I mean, what is location, really
He looks around 6'1-6'2. Not sure about weight.
Think so? He looked smaller than that to me. Maybe 5'11. Maybe it has something to do with his skating style.

But anyway, I think McDavid is the more talented player with the puck. He has a lot of speed and creativity. That said, I'm not convinced that he'll be a better NHLer than Eichel. If this were the directly post-lockout period, there would be no question. But the game is trending in a mucky, grindy way, and I'm much more sold on Eichel's size (he could end up around 6'3) and growing power game. He just seems like the better player for the 2014 NHL game, and on top of that, I think he's got the puck skills to play in an open format too. So in that sense, I take Eichel to be the safer pick. With McDavid you end up gambling a little bit more, because I don't think he's going to be a wide, sturdy guy like Crosby. I see him more as a wiry guy like a Datsyuk, and that can be a rough ride in today's NHL.

(and before somebody notes that Datsyuk is listed at a similar weight to Crosby—total stat padding. Zetterberg is listed around there and is actually about 175 lbs soaking wet.)

McDavid is probably 6'1" now. He grew a tad since last year and he was already 6'0". He put on a bit of weight too. More than likely is about ~185lbs now.

I always thought he was 5'10-5'11, but I saw highlights from an Erie game near the end of the season where he looked like he was around 6'1, but it's hard to tell.

If he is 6' or more I'd bet on him getting 70+ points next year. It all depends on size/strength with him IMO.

This is from last year. He was already a solid inch taller than Crosby and he's grown a little since then.

Yeah McDavid is definitely atleast 6'1" now and McDavid is definitely better than Eichel.

McDavid has outperformed Eichel at every opportunity other than the U20 where Eichel had a much bigger role due to being on a somewhat poor team that lacked solid depth.

You sound like a person who's seen a lot of McDavid and not a lot of Eichel. It's okay to say that you favor one guy, you know. You don't have to pretend you've personally reviewed all the evidence and impartially came to that conclusion.

If you're talking about McDavid he should be getting around 100+ points in the OHL next year.

As a McDavid fanboy and hardcore fan since the beginning, I can safely say I am excited to see Eichel vs McDavid in the NHL ala Crosby vs Ovie. Both should be fun to watch and both are of similar effectiveness. Nobody on here can say Eichel is more skilled, because McDavid clearly is...but something of what Eichel brings (size? idk) makes him just as effective most nights. McDavid is the better prospect due to skill but both should have similar effectiveness (McDavid more points) in the show. Thanks. :yo:

on a lackluster Erie team next year he should but no one should expect crazy numbers because he wont have brown to snipe for him or even Fox. He'll have to single handedly win Erie games, which judging by the summer camp games should be no problemo.
