I didn't say Hutson should be playing in the AHL, I said if he was in the Devils organization he would be. And that's a fact.

Stop getting so easily triggered because other fans don't think your team's prospects are the greatest ever. You guys are getting pretty annoying with this crap.
You guys had Severson in your top 4 and argued for years about how great he was, one of the most dog shit defenseman I have ever seen, and I'm a Leafs fan LOL

If he was on the Devils, it's probably Luke Hughes that would be in the AHL

Again I'm a Leafs fan who despises Montreal. Only thing I hate more than rival teams are nonsense takes like this lol.

Luke being in the AHL over Hutson? Holy shit, that's a helluva take.

Not to anyone with a basic understanding of statistics.
I genuinely don't understand how people can look at goal scoring at this point in the season and realize that we probably aren't going to have 14 players score 50+ goals this season, but expanding it and saying the same concept that means that sh% normalizes with time also applies to on-ice sh% is just too advanced.

Speaking of shooting percentage, I'm hoping Hutson doesn't finish with his current 0%.

He's had chances but...

Also, Hutson is awesome.
He won't stay at 0% but 14 shots through 400 minutes also isn't the kind of high volume that leads to big goal totals for dmen. Should probably be at 1 right now tho

I feel like you're taking it as an insult, which it isn't. Hutson is a solid player, there's no shame in being a lesser player than him.
What? Are you suggesting Lane Hutson is a better D man than Luke Hughes? Hutson will be a good player even he figures out he needs to play as an NHLer. Luke Hughes knows his game and is already a very good player. Both will continue to improve but it’s pretty clear Luke Hughes has a higher ceiling. He will be a number 1 on a very good team. Hutson is going to be good but not as a 1D.

Hutson is a dynamic jitterbug who pulls you out of your seat almost every time he has the puck. But his shot is pillow-soft and unable to beat NHL goalies at this point... unless the goalie doesn't see it at all.

Hopefully, he improves on this, or he'll be a high-end 70-point defenseman with a 4/66/70 stat line, lol.

Cool.

Can we stop talking about Luke Hughes now?
Then people should not to bring Hughes up when some Devils fans slightly criticize a small part of Hutsons game but generally think he's great. nobody is saying Hutson isn't going to be an NHL player or is going to turn into the next Will Bucher. He's a great rookie and like all rookies he has parts of his game that needs more development.

There may be one or two people that are saying Hutson should be in the AHL because of trolling or malice but most are just wanting him to reach his potential and there are going to be differing opinions on which ways best.

I know and understand both sides of the "play him in the NHL but be a part of a losing culture" VS "play him in the AHL where he won't be tested as much by the competition."

Both options in reality suck.

I liked Slafkovsky and Hutson before the draft and the same with Demidov. Just because I am a fan of a different team then the one he got drafted to doesn't mean I'm automatically a troll for having a different opinion on how they are playing or how their development is going.
----

Back to the topic of Hutson Himself I do think he'll need to simplify his game a little bit but I don't think that won't happen till he has more reliable teammates surrounding him. To me He looks a lot like Jack Hughes in his rookie year, Always Trying to force plays all by himself and doing "cute" moves that left him open and out of the play. Eventually he was surrounded by teammates who were reliable and made the simple pass instead forcing a play by himself. He also only used his "magic" at the right times.

Hutson will probably end up the same.

I'd count your opinion among the majority of well-intentioned, reasonable ones. A couple of debating points:

1) There's a difference between a losing team and a losing culture. You can go through a few years as the former without becoming the latter; in fact, most winning teams did exactly that. Montreal as an organization has never remained out of the playoffs for long. Hopefully, that's the culture that'll carry them through the latter part of their rebuild and back into the playoffs.

Hutson's skill is undeniable. He has a grand total of 19 NHL games under his belt and already shows remarkable confidence and control, which places him in a different league – literally – than the AHL. He gains nothing by playing against lesser competition. The refining he needs is best done at the NHL level.

2) Good point about his teammates. Last game against Minnesota was a perfect example. Hutson controlled the play in the o-zone.... perfect pass to a forward, who whiffs. Hutson gets the puck back... another perfect pass, another whiff. His teammates are also raw, but man... frustrating as hell to watch the kid create one scoring chance after another that aren't converted.
