What exactly are you angry at ? Do you want Garrett Sparks back?

Last year Mrazek @ $3.8 mil played 20 games won 12 lost 8 and when he let in 4 goals against in 5 straight games the Leafs waived him to the AHL and eventually used their own 1st round pick to get rid of him.

This year Murray @ $4.7 mil has played 22 games won 12 lost 10 and has just gone 5 straight games giving up 4 goals against.

You must be angry at yourself for believing these were good goalie decisions and now disappointed like the rest of us. :wg:

Shouldn't you? "Play the kids", right? That's what you kept saying at the time.

Last year Mrazek had a negative impact on the team, giving up 11.6 goals more than expected, and we traded down 13 draft slots to move him. This year, Murray has had a positive impact, saving 1.6 goals more than expected. A significant improvement from our secondary goalie, on top of the massive improvement we've had in our starter and depth.
Are you happy with these goaltending results that you feel compelled to defend them?
Why are you unhappy with the 9th best (0.1 GSAx behind 7th best) goaltending in the league?

As of right now, it’s pretty clear Samsonov is our starter. I still can’t believe Washington didn’t qualify him and we got him for free…

Wonder if Woll gets a game or two in the last couple weeks, they are clearly not afraid of scratching guys to give them a break so Woll can backup but it would probably be nice to see him again before the playoffs.

Barring a late season injury, Murray will start Game 1 vs Tampa

i don't know where i stand on this exactly. Samsomov has been better overall this season, but Murray had that one stretch where he was amazing and in my opinion looked like the most dominant leaf goalie since Joseph/Belfour. He seems to be getting back to that level. plus In the playoffs experience means so much.

If Murray can maintain this form going into the playoffs then i have no problem with him starting. I'd be happy with Ilya starting as well.

If one of them is much better in their last few starts, he probably starts. If it's close, maybe Sammy gets the start because he's been dominant at home or maybe Murray gets the nod because of playoff experience, who knows?

Should give Sammy the rest of the trip off to spend with the family and heal up. Probably see Woll start one of the games this weekend.

I think, pending performances through the end of the season, we're on track for Samsonov to start game 1.

Not only has Samsonov been amazing at home this year, but I think if you have to switch goalies, you'd rather be switching in the playoff-tested, cup-winning veteran than a young goalie. I think they run him through the first 2 home games, unless he's horrific in game 1. Then if we're up 2-0, ride him. If we're 1-1, depends on play. If we're 0-2, go Murray on the road.

Murray not helping his own cause. Sigh.
He's been up and down all year, hard to expect consistency from him now. Goaltending's been the biggest question mark all season, it's been as good as we could have hoped for I guess but still, hard to see us going far unless it gets better.

I'll just leave this here. SV% for the season:
TOR .906
BOS .929

Bos defensive structure is impressive, ours brain farts every now and then.
That said Bos is on a different level this season. Everything has gone their way. Hopefully it breaks down when we meet then in the second round :DD

That would be ideal. Second choice is that Boston doesn't make it that far. :)
