Has anyone tried DirecTV’s streaming service? Their $99 package carries Altitude, evidently.

Also, a buddy threw this one at me. Anyone ever heard of Ecova TV?

Looking for Altitude alternatives, but don’t want to punt Xfinity internet.

My mom and I are splitting directTV for the upcoming season. I haven’t used it yet though, but she used it for a preseason game and seemed to have a good experience with it.

He was a top 5 goalie in the NHL here, I don't know how much better he's going to be able to do.

It felt like there were stretches where he was good, and there were stretches where he was quite bad. His start and his finish to the regular season were objectively terrible, and that bad play carried into the playoffs.

I suppose I should amend my statement and say he'll probably feel more comfortable in a collapsing, shot-blocking system rather than the Avs' system that put more emphasis on preventing zone entries and breaking the puck out quickly.

Yes, I used DirectTV stream last season and I am going to use it again this year. The streaming quality is great and you get every other national broadcast with ESPN and TNT.

Also, you can have three TV's connected via a Roku type device. So if you t can, split it amongst a person you trust, they have access to your channels and settings, and its only $45ish a month.

Shayna Goldman and Dom Luszcyszyn (god, I never would've gotten out of elementary school with that last name) had a real good season preview of the Avalanche today at the Athletic for those have it. General gist is that it is possible to be both worse than last season and still a championship caliber team. It's a testament to the core the Avs have built.

Ah, thank you. A hidden cost alert.

So, DirecTV is not built into the new smart TVs? Have to get a Roku?

Can you buy those, or is rental mandatory? Other choices aside from Roku?

-AB, learning new things…..

oh sorry that was worded poorly. You can stream on up to 20 devices, but only 3 can be "TV" style devices. Not sure if smart TVs have the app, but devices like Rokus, Apple TV, Fire TV, etc. can download the DirectTV streaming app. My comment was mainly around the benefit of "splitting" the account amongst a buddy/family member to cut the monthly price in half for each person.

You can stream on your phone and cast it to your TV as well. Or just watch on your iphone/ipad/etc.

I personally just prefer the Roku since its easier to control with the remote and the DVR fast forward controls work really well on that device. They are around $30s to purchase and have really good usability.

You’re just jealous that I don’t have to pay rent :sarcasm:

I am actually.

Not hockey related but media related—Richard Fleming and Marcelo Balboa sign off as the Rapids coverage duo on Altitude for the last time.

What's the story here?
"A historic first for soccer streaming, MLS fans can soon subscribe and stream to enjoy all things soccer, including live matches, via a single Apple TV platform. Major League Soccer (MLS) recently announced a new broadcast agreement with Apple, reportedly worth an estimated $2.5 billion over 10 years."

Basically, all the local/regional coverage is done. I'm guessing Apple implements their own broadcasters instead of the "team" ones. It will be interesting to see if any of the local guys get picked up by Apple. I haven't heard exactly who will be doing their games.
