Barely recognized Ray at first. The eyes and smile never change though.

That bit about being asked to be in the Mighty Ducks gave me a chuckle. Said something like no, I'm not flying to LA for that. I was initially surprised that he had to hump his own luggage up three flights of stairs moveing into his hotel because the team to was too cheap to put him up at a place that had a working elevator... but then I remembered Stan bought the team around this point in time.

I had no idea we would be in on Borque until the trade was announced. The internet was a completely different animal back in the days of dial-up, eh? Anyways, he mentioned that he thought he was brought in for something a bit more than just skill because the Avs had enough of that. Then he goes on to talk about not being able to sleep the night before met the team. Goes into the rink at 4am and sees his number on an Avs jersey for the first time, and smiles at the memory. Then he goes on to talk about he he was there to greet and introduce himself to everyone as they showed up.

Yeah... this man exudes leadership. The team does not introduce Ray Borque, Ray Borque introduces himself. I promise not to go into any Chuck Norris jokes, but Borque could tie his skates with his feet.

Yep, I was resigned to seeing Ray don a Flyers jersey, only for my old man to leave me a message saying "Hey did you hear we got Ray Bourque?" I lost my damned mind. Got to see him live twice, once as a Bruin, once as an Av. Still doesn't feel like a distant memory yet, watching him finally lift that Cup.
