Ok who was it?

"So dark, Jost deactivated his Instagram because of some mean-spirited messages he received out of the blue from Avs fans telling him the Avs would not have won the Cup had he not been traded. That was a gut punch to a guy who was so loyal to the Avs since being drafted in the first round in 2016 and loved playing for that franchise, in that city and in front of those fans."

Hey I probably slagged Josty more than anyone here but it wasn't me!

That's just ridiculous though. What a bunch of f***ing losers. The team finally wins and some fans' first instinct is to troll an ex-player on social media.

Really crappy that any fan would troll Jost like that. He's a good kid and trying his best... no need to be like that. F those people.

Beyond the fan part, any regrets Jost has with that, he should look back on himself. He put in a trade request to get a new start. He may have still been traded in the end, but he certainly kickstarted things.

I wish we as fans had the class and character the Avalanche look for in players.

Minny only 4 pts behind us despite a 14M cap penalty.

They made the playoffs without a legit 1C or 2C, and shaky goaltending. Frankly they didn't really have a legit 1D either.

If Marco Rossi is for real (and really, he doesn't even have to be a superstar, just an improvement over Freddy Hockey, JEE, or Ryan Hartman) and they get the good version of Fleury, look out.

IMO that huge cap penalty is bad, but people are going to overestimate its impact. There are other teams in the league with bad money tied up in far greater amounts than what the Wylde have going on the next few years.

I don’t think that’s quite as crazy. Kaprizov is a freak. And Boldy and Rossi look like good pieces as well. They aren’t a playoff threat, but they’ll be good in the RS.

Washington is on the edge of falling off from playoff contention imo. Guess we’ll see though.

IMO Kuemper should probably do better in WSH than he did in COL. They play a conservative defensive system that emphasizes shot-blocking over puck movement and possession, and that seems to fit Darcy's game a lot better. Of course if he gets hurt it's a moot point, but I kinda have to give the Caps credit there.

As for the rest of the team, they're old AF but still very talented.

The big hurt is they lost Kevin Fiala as an RFA due to the cap this summer. He brought 30G and 85points last season. That's not easy to overcome.

No, not easy to overcome at all but that wasn't just a cap casualty, there was no way Fiala and Evason were going to continue, that relationship broke down big-time.

So long as they got Kaprizov all things are possible. Also, there's a chance Boldy becomes a star (I think he'll be better than what most project him as) and Rossi finally becomes the 1C they've never really had. If those things happen, they'll be a force.

If any team is taking a step back in the Central, it's the Blues IMO. Well, there's also the possibility the Avs will as well, but I'm gonna stay hopeful there.

I like the Caps a lot, but do I think they’re 5pts better than last year? I’m not sure about that. I think they’ve got a couple more years but they’re at the end of their run.

I think people underrated the Wild and how much talent they have. That team is legitimately good. They are a step below a true contender, but with some tweaks or luck they can get there. The cap issues are there and legit, but they have a number of good prospects who might be able to ease that. Soon they'll have Wallstedt on an ELC salary as their starter. Addison, Rossi, Yurov and Faber should bring in nice replacement in impact roles for cheap. They really need a center prospect to turn out in a big way (Rossi would be ideal for them)... if that doesn't happen they will probably be limited until somebody can push them over the top there.

Well, put it this way, they were a playoff team that gave the Prez winners everything they could handle with uproariously bad goaltending. Now they have middle-tier goaltending. So, yeah, I could see that being a difference of 5 points or more. The big factor is how hard, if at all, the aging curve hits. If one or more key players fall off a cliff, like, say, Carlson, then they're in trouble. If they're still capable of producing and stay relatively healthy, then they'll be fine.

So Baugh wrote a book this summer it seems...with Emily Kaplan

Featuring in-depth reporting and an unforgettable cast of characters both on the ice and in the front office, this is the story of how the Avalanche built the winningest team in the salary cap era, vanquished the reigning back-to-back champion Tampa Bay Lightning, and returned the Stanley Cup to Colorado.

Dude's been on the Avalanche beat one year and he was already holding back info for a book.

What the hell did I pay the Athletic $70 for last year?

He was a top 5 goalie in the NHL here, I don't know how much better he's going to be able to do.
