I am very underwhelmed by Petry. Seems like a lateral move from Marino for a guy who is a decade older and paid more. Yeesh. And now I see Marino getting big minutes for NJD and they are leapfrogging us.

Maybe Ty Smith makes me eat my words, but right now it's no bueno.
Petrys hockey IQ is in the toilet.
In Habtown we didnt call him petry the pilon because he worked road construction.
Putting him in the 4 -3 pp in OT had me laughing at Sullivan . He' ll learn.

Sullivan won't be fired. Reirdan and Vellucci won't be fired. The newly re-signed core won't be traded.

The bottom six and the left side of the defense, however, should keep their heads on a swivel.

If this team goes on a ten game losing streak I wouldn’t be so sure Sullivan doesn’t get fired. And considering we have yet to beat a starting goaltender through 10+% of the season I’m not sure we will get another win.

Remember when Jim Rutherford traded Carl Hagelin just because he was pissed at the locker room and wanted to shake things up? It was supposed to be wake up call for the locker room and it ended up just pissing them off.

I wonder if Hextall would try something similar. Maybe he starts smaller with Kapanen or McGinn. But the way Brian Dumoulin is playing, what if Hextall trades him? Considering how close so much of the team is to him, that would be a hell of a wake-up call.

He's vanilla. Him and Petterssen don't lose you the game but they barely contribute anything. Take em or leave em.

I would love to see some Vanilla from Letang....

He won't. Sully decided that Petry is the man and he will have to kill his family before he changes his mind

Reactions: Pens x and PaulD
When Sully came in, the Pens were very injured, among other things; he brought a bunch of WBS players with him that changed the makeup of the team considerably, then JR got Daley and Hagelin within the slightly pre- and post- coaching change. They were huge.

And the big three were six years younger.
Yep. And they benefited from the coaching change in 2009 and 2016.
2022 is time to do it again. There is no risk. His shelf life is up .
Ide fire him and call Trotts or Tochett

Missed the game, was at work. Shoulda canned Sullivan in the summer and hired Cassidy. Who can we hire now? is there even anyone left except mr noneck? and would his goalie coach friend join him like he has every team he's been on?

It's the NHL. Anything is possible. And FSG has deeper pockets to swallow contracts than Lemieux/Burkle did. But given all that we know about FSG's impressions of Sullivan, I am skeptical.

In fact, it would not surprise me to see Hextall/Burke fired before Sullivan.

That said, I think player moves would be the first step.

A fitting tribute on the day they announce they will be wearing jerseys to honor the old Pittsburgh Pirates with a performance the modern Pittsburgh Pirates can be proud of.

I don't know why firing Sully would be hard for his new friends at FSG.

As long as he doesn't go accept another head coach job, he gets to sit at home collecting his contract.

Free money for sullivan.

If I was Sullivan I would look at the boxscores and find all of the players who had a minus. Then, I wouldn’t allow those players to take their equipment off until they have a game that they are a plus. I think that would motivate them and surely send a message.

Rust-Poehling-Guentzel to protect a one goal lead with 1 minute left :) How did Sullivan come up with that choice?
Line change. Penguins couldn't clear long enough to get Rust and Guentzel off the ice. Sid got off, Poehling came on. Bruins scored.

My biggerish fear at the moment is that I'm not sure we even have a GM capable of making the moves necessary to affect change. I think this is all on the team in front of us.

I shed no tears when Tocchett left, but I for sure missed him when f***ing Recchi was wasting space behind the bench. My preference would probably be promoting Forrest from WBS. I do think there's a distinct benefit to having a working understanding of the farm team, and the Pens are 2-0 on that move. Trotz could be interesting, given how much time we've spent hating him 😂

Even in those wins effort was questionable in most of the games. Bad habits seep in and they've continued to get soft and quit early. They do need a shakeup and even that might not be enough but its the only thing that's going salvage the season at this current rate.
They were still seemingly able to score at will when they turned it on, now, loking back, that was mostly against backups....but it's been a slog to watch since. They look like they aged 10 years overnight.

This sounds like fan spite, but IMO improvement starts with:
In no circumstances shall GCR play together again
Phantom Dumoulin injury

I saw this comment posted on another site and thought I’d share…I used to feel this way and I believe now that Sullivan and his crappy system that doesn’t fit his current old players is here because Sid and G want to play like they’re still aged 25 and do not want to trap lol….

“I think the entire organization is stale and Sullivan is beyond his shelf life. The adjustments are for a much younger and faster team when it should be a more slower pace to age with the team. Look at this game. Why not dump and forecheck with 1 or 2 guys and play a more passive game rather than making risky plays that allowed the Bruins to get back? This team is like a 60 year old ex model wearing a halter top at a bar. I’m sure it looked good 35 years ago but today…….
not so much.

I think if he goes to a younger and faster team that can maintain the pace he seems to expect for 60 minutes he’ll look better. He doesn’t have the team he once had and they can’t overcome any kind of system flaws.”

Has the coach heard of a time out? I don’t believe Sullivan believes in them…
When was he supposed to call timeout?

There was a TV timeout with 2:15 left. Crosby won the neutral zone faceoff after the TV timeout.

The next stoppage was the tying goal 58 seconds later.
