We'll see. I don't think Sully will be long without a job even if he does get canned.
He might flourish again somewhere he's less comfortable. Think of all the milestones he's racked up as the Pens' coach outside of the b2b Cups.

I said when they announced the extension I didn't think he'd finish it out with the Pens. I don't recall if I predicted he might be gone before it kicked in. I *definitely* did not think we'd be having this discussion 10 games in.

A ho-hum start would be one thing, but the better-than-expected start followed by this much-worse-than-expected plunge is creating some whiplash without much room to recover.

The ice time deployment is bizarre. I don't get Poehling and McGinn getting more ice time than Rakell. Nor Rutta not playing more.
Poehling was out there for the 6v5 goal and the 3v3 OT goal…has this coach ever heard of a time out so you don’t need to put your 4th line players out in these situations? Lol

I honestly would try something different next game. Play Malkin with Crosby Kapanen for speed to retrieve pucks or rust. Have Guentzel play with Rakell and Carter when he returns. Try some crazy ish to see what gives

I didn't see the 1st, but I did see the third where they got smacked.
Crosby line scored two even strength goals. First period goal from Sid was against Bergeron-Marchand line. Second period goal from Rust was against Pastrnak-Hall line.

Crosby line was on the ice for one even strength goal against. It was scored by Zacha in the third.

Bergeron line did not score against the Crosby line.

We did play OK, much better than on the road. Jarry right now stinks and no lead is safe with him in goal.
Some of you pointing flaws on L1, I thought they had a good game, they are good in OZ, but the seconsd the puck is moved to our zone, all three forwards are clueless and don't even bother. Zucker is Ok I guess but he really does not move the needle, he just can't help his line attack as 3. Although I wish he would play on PP instead of Jake or Rust.
Third line was meh, kind of running around but I don't remember them creating anything..
I really liked 4th line, I liked Poehling a lot, I sat close to the ice and the way he moves and gets on the puck is impressive, McGinn probably best game
Liked POJ and Ruutta and Ruh, other three dman sucked, I thought Dumo was OK, maybe he looks bad playing with Letang and Petry not the other way around.
PP should get all the coaches fired, whats left to say...
PK: I could see from the airplane them colapsing and leaving Marchand one of the best onetimers in NHL taking that shot...Don't get that...

Petry may be bad right now but the problem is Letang and Dumo are worse.
Our PK and PP.
Hard to evaluate this team... other than they collectively do nothing well right now.

Do I think the Pens will pull out of this and go on a run? Yes
Do I think they will burn themselves out and get shelled in Playoffs? Yes.
Deja Vu

listening to the post game, Sully is promising seeing more of PP1, its just a matter of time when they gonna start skating and scoring...

And lose key ones

Fire coach during season......win cup with new coach and exact same line up.
Happened more than once in Steeltown .....no?
When Sully came in, the Pens were very injured, among other things; he brought a bunch of WBS players with him that changed the makeup of the team considerably, then JR got Daley and Hagelin within the slightly pre- and post- coaching change. They were huge.

And the big three were six years younger.

Sullivan won't be fired. Reirdan and Vellucci won't be fired. The newly re-signed core won't be traded.

The bottom six and the left side of the defense, however, should keep their heads on a swivel.
