Special teams skewed it some, but he should be getting more ice time.Rakell played under 14 minutes. Maybe they need to just like play the best players on the team?

he is not good thats for surePetry looked like a hot steaming pile of shit the whole game.

I still think it's hard to have a good 60 minute effort when half the team is a dumpster fire. Also, I think the "you need to play youth" comment is wildly missing the point with this team right now. Not only do they not really have any youth worth playing (outside of Smith), but they're struggling right now because their big guns are struggling more than anything.
The problems aren't at the bottom of the roster, they're with Crosby, Letang, Dumoulin, Petry, Jarry and such looking like crap. Sure, I do have concerns with how McGinn and Kapanen (especially Kapanen) are performing, but this team isn't losing because of those two.
This team isn't in any different of a spot if you shot Archibald to the moon to play O'Connor or moved on from Carter to play Poulin. The issue is at the top with the big guns, the guys who are supposed to be carrying this team.

Just flat out unacceptable.
Jarry was absolutely putrid this game in addition to several others.

Dude got sick watching his tape... He was f***ing awful in Seattle. On a positive note: Letang looked his best in weeks tonight.
Not for nothing, but Sid's line had a 22-15 edge in shot attempts, a 2-1 edge in goals scored, and a 76.99 xGF%.I want to know if Sid is giving actual effort out there. Aside from a couple chances to look cool stealing the puck from his frenemy Marchand, that little shrew & Pastnak basically abused GCR every shift.
Watch the first shift of the third again and tell me that 87's trying.
Sully out, Trotz in. Before Toronto hires Trotz. If someone else hires him, ownership is off the hook for this current contract no? Someone would definitely hire him within a month.
I hate when the local media finds something positive to say about a team that blows a 3-goal lead when it's trying to snap a 4-game losing streak playing horrid hockey.Sound exactly like Pittsburgh media... the clowns on PPG used to be snippy about Tomlin and how *great* he is and we just need patience.
Now they don't post...

What’s the solution? Gonna find solution.
That is seriously your take-away from this game???Geno is way too good to be playing that f***ing sloppy
You said it !I hate when the local media finds something positive to say about a team that blows a 3-goal lead when it's trying to snap a 4-game losing streak playing horrid hockey.
f*** off. Keep the cheerleading for when the team deserves it. Stop giving out participation trophies like these guys are 8 year old kids.
I didn't see the 1st, but I did see the third where they got smacked. Not for nothing, but Sid's line had a 22-15 edge in shot attempts, a 2-1 edge in goals scored, and a 76.99 xGF%.
Analytically, that's much better than they've performed against the Bruins in the past.
Also, Pasternak isn't on that line anymore on a regular basis, although they were briefly reunited in the third.
With Petry on them they will stay that way.I love our current PP and PK- it's beer or bathroom time. Multiple shit shows!
The ice time deployment is bizarre. I don't get Poehling and McGinn getting more ice time than Rakell. Nor Rutta not playing more. The most frustrating thing with this team is that Sullivan's usage of players, namely GCR and Letang, generally hurt the team. Why the hell are Rakell and Zucker playing 13 minutes today? Why is Rutta playing 12 minutes in a game where Letang is actively hurting them (Seattle game)? Why is PP1 getting 6 minutes of powerplays a night when they're not doing shit with the opportunities?
Compare the usage today for the Penguins versus the Bruins. The Penguins used GCR for over 21 minutes, with Crosby getting 25 minutes, and Malkin was essentially at 20 minutes. The next forward? Poehling at 13:42. Boston was actually rolling their lines, they only had 2 guys over 20 minute (Marchand and Pastrnak barely over it) and they had 8 guys playing 15:30 or more. The same issue happened with Letang in the last game, he was actively hurting them almost every single shift, but he was still out there every other shift.
This team is worse off when they're sending out their top guns every other shift regardless of their play and not holding them accountable for the performance on the powerplay. Sullivan is not using his pieces well, and it seems like this has been a common trend of his.
