At least Rakell is looking good still. Gonna make a nice reverse retro jersey

Oh man, the Craig Adams defender has ideas about our current situation!

Imagine downplaying someones opinion based on things they said 8 years ago. I was 16 and had a completely different opinion on hockey than I do now.

tbh it's a pathetic way to invalidate someones opinion

People on here said we won't do much better than Sullivan with the coaching market.

People on here said we can't do much better than Jarry, let's lock him up cheap while we can.

People on here defended the Kapanen RFA signing.

All of you losers... all of you have contributed... to me cheering for Brad Marchand's return to hockey.

Coach Sullivan: "At the end of the day, we got to find a way to win games. When you get a two-goal lead going into the third, you're in a good position to win. We had opportunities to win, and we didn't take advantage of them."

Lazy ass response. Take responsibility Sully... you wont

Why did I watch this shit? Well, I actually only watched 1,5 periods because the NHL.tv stream jumped straight to the Malkin goal after the 1-1 goal. The 3rd and OT were not included at all so I had to watch the highlights.

Shit team, shit league.

Lovely and insightful commentary. Thank you. I will share this with others who will be amazed at your wisdom and deep takes. We are lucky to have you.

The team is in a free fall and the product I have paid for doesn't work, so I reserve the right to go on a little rant every now and then.

Positives? Team has the skill to score. We got a point. That's pretty much it. It's not the losses, it's how they have lost. The last 5 games have been painful to watch.

I think it's totally okay to be frustrated at a team that is not performing up to standards. I think it's also weird to defend the coaching staff on this as the special teams and lineup implode, but people gotta live their lives, so who am I to judge really?

I think Pixies said it early in the GDT, but this team is frustrating because you can see the potential there. But right now, for whatever reason, they are not putting the effort in. Is it because they're old? Good news, you can fix that with some younger, hungrier players. Is it because they have finally turned on Sullivan? Dunno, but it's weird how quickly and completely the team decided NOT to play well, despite looking like world-beaters the first 4 games. Is it because they need a new goalie or defense? Well, heads can roll in the offseason.

Anyhow, what I'm getting at is there are a few tarnished silver linings namely-- the team CAN attempt to right the ship, IF they want to and have the drive to do so, the younger players don't look like they're the originators of the spiral here, and if we're bad enough we might actually get a pick worth using or an organizational revamp/coaching change. But I'm not very hopeful when I see the coach not only flipping out about people asking for an explanation of line changes and then giving some Bylsmatastic answer about why we lost.

Like I keep saying, I don't expect anything much from this team in terms of competing for a cup, but I also don't expect them to be GenX levels of bad.

I could go on but this thread will end up being long enough to cover everything I would say. I will add that the Bruins were all up in our crease relatively un-impeded.
Which again is weird because the first 4 games the team was committed to that not happening. It's like the coaching staff trained them all wrong, as a joke.

Anyhow, mood:

The Petry deal looks pretty unremarkable thus far. Smith better be a legitimate top 4 dman.

I know that you love Petry, pixie. No need to praise him in a response. I had to hear how great Blueger was from you for years.

Our fan base would be laughing at any other team that extended a coach like Sullivan or most of the Pens’ off season moves.

I really thought we'd win after their called-off goal at 5-2. :(
If I look at it from the perspective that we played the hottest team in the league better than almost anyone and got a point, that helps but...
Still gutted though. It makes it extra frustrating when you can clearly see there's enough offense there to beat a Vancouver or Seattle

I wonder how it woulda affected the result if Letang played.

At least there's clear identifiable weaknesses that can be worked on. Special teams are murdering us. Jarry's in a rut. L3's gone quiet. Carter's absence didn't help at all. And maybe most importantly the team has been irresponsible with puck management.

I hope when Blue comes back they make him 3C until Carts returns.

I hope when Blue comes back they make him 3C until Carts returns.
What's the timetable on that anyway? Has Blueger even been in full contact practices yet?

You know things are f***ed when this is the hope right now.

Dude, that Sullivan extension is so bad. Like I'm actually laughing about it
I'm just sort of mystified at how these last few months has gone since FSG took over, given how everyone was like "they're such hardasses, bean counters" and then the drama over the UFA stuff. Like they made a huge stink about accountability coming in, that was supposed to be their big thing, and then we just handed out Carter and Sullivan extensions with no thought whatsoever.

Maybe we'll see some heads roll in the FO in like the next month or so if we keep slipping farther down the standings, but FSG seems like the same old, same old TBH.

I wanted Sullivan extended and the Pens did that. There's a lot of people (rightly) calling for his head right now.

None of those people foresaw *this* level of slump though. If you're one of those people, don't even pretend you did lol. You saw first round exits, sure, but not a team that would be in danger of digging their own grave in October.

But either way, I'm not afraid to admit I was wrong and unless the Pens pull out of this tailspin and soon then I was absolutely wrong to call for Sullivan to be extended. But who saw this coming? I saw the danger of first round exits. I did not see the danger of a team completely looking like they forgot how to play hockey. That's whta we're seeing right now.

This is hideous to watch and even the most ardent anti-Sullivan posters did not see this coming.

I've caterwauled about Sully this entire offseason and this was a microcosm this game.

4 on 3 on OT. Rust, who was the best player on either team tonight, was nowhere to be found. Not only did you remove your best player to attempt to end the game but there was no right handed shot in the left circle. Petry looked like he never had even been on the PP that scenario.

CGR is great producing goals, but they suck at defense. Yet it's Sully's pacifier.

Can someone tell me how many ENG Jake's been on the ice against? He's probably up to a million by now. He should never see the ice again in that situation

But this loss will be blamed on "We didn't have Carter or Letang" and we'll do the same old shit and get bounced the 1st round again
