Not that I'm aware of -
Am I getting ahead of myself?
I'm assuming he's heading down - hopefully I'm wrong
If he goes down I don't think it will be yet, or at least I hope not. I don't think the organization will play him more than 9 games this early in the season unless he really breaks out. But, I would like to see him get a little more opportunity with more skilled players.

He won't be going down prior to the end of the road trip atleast. Both teams are in Winnipeg next week so that would be the likely spot to make the move if that is how they are leaning as an org.

It would be fascinating to be a fly on the wall to hear the brain trust discuss what they plan on doing with him.

Who comes out of the lineup for Scheif tonight?

Perfetti or Ves or Harkins or Svech?

Based on line rushes in practice yesterday Cole is staying in with Lowry and Stastny. I'm not sure who is out on the fourth as they were rotating everyone in for practice.

There is no way to justify taking Perfetti out at this stage. He doesn't look like a rookie at all. He's one of the smartest players we've had. I'm quite surprised how solid he's been. If he's playing at this level at game 9 you can't send him down.

Given how quickly he learns and adapts he'sikely playing at a much higher level by game 9.

I just think you need to get him on a pp unit.

It really would be nice to see him given a reasonable opportunity on PP2 at least, wouldn't it? But I wonder if Perfetti has been even given the nod to audition for PP during practise sesssions? Placing him on the PP as an as-yet unproven rookie just seems to be outside of Moe's comfort level .

That would literally be giving the keys of the car to an infant. #IAmOffended at the very idea, sir.

Someday. Someday. Soon?

I think it relates to both strategy and Maurice's approach to roster sociology. Stastny moves to 3rd line, but Maurice doesn't want to give him the impression that he's just there to grind. Perfetti adds an offensive dimension.

Strategically, Maurice wants his top 2 lines to be able to face top lines (especially the 2nd line, which he's tended to shelter in previous seasons). I think he'll try to get the 3rd line matched with some lesser competition and see if they can add a bit of offense, without giving up much.

With Copp and without Laine our 2nd line doesn’t need to be sheltered as much anymore.

This may well be what Moe is contemplating. but the focus might better be placed on the top line and whether he can hard match CSW against the other teams top line and come out ahead. I seem to recall they were statistically quite challenged when hard matched in this manner last few years. Am I wrong on this ?

No, you are right - but the d pairing is also part of the "line" and should impact performance in a positive manner going forward
At least this is what I hope will be the case.

It won't matter what d pairing they have if Wheeler doesn't significantly up his game from last games performance.
