Will Svech be in the lineup for the game, or will there be an extra d-man? According to Illegal Curve there are 12 fwds (no Svech) and 8 d on the roster.

Svech isn't technically signed yet so he's not technically on the roster. I'd expect him to be in the lineup tomorrow.

Yeah, but would they have to move down someone (Heinola/Perfetti/both) to have cap space for him? I believe they're currently at $0 available.

Maurice also said that Stanley and DeMelo are the bottom pair tomorrow. You wouldn't think they would take Heinola on a California road trip to sit in the PB with the Moose camp underway.

Exactly, I think the Moose actually have a couple of games this week as well so they aren't going to have him misss any games.

I would have thought that they would have announced him heading to the Moose by now though.

Moose don't play until Saturday. Maybe Heinola stays through game 1 (dress 7 D) and then heads to Toronto to meet the Moose?

Doesn't make sense to me that they would bring him on the road trip and then fly him out after a fee days. I'd imagine if he's on the trip then he's on it for the duration. Both Moose and Jets are back in the city next week so not like missing a couple of Moose games would be that big of a deal.

I agree, it doesn't make sense. I wonder if he actually went to Anaheim with them or if they send him down tonight and announce Svech signing right after.

He can play 9 games before burning a year yes. I am not sure he gets all 9 at the beginning of this year. I guess that will depend on how he performs as well as on how healthy the team is.
I would like to see him get five games to start the year and then four games throughout the year. I would think splitting up the games into 2 or 3 chunks would be beneficial for a players development.

And the signing of Svech by now.

A great read in Cole P for Athletic subscribers -- Murat doing the colour pieces he does best.

Cole Perfetti's Jets debut is a lifetime in the making: 'You get goosebumps, just thinking about it'

And when Maurice pulled Perfetti aside at Jets practice to give him the news, he focused his message squarely on Perfetti’s family story.
“It’s kind of a canned speech but I believe it’s true,” Maurice told reporters in Winnipeg. “When I tell a guy (he’s playing in the NHL), what I’m thinking (about) is his mom and dad. There’s that phone call in the last hour — ‘I’m in’ — and what that household is like today and tomorrow … Just every crappy cup of coffee in every small rink that we’ve all had a thousand of, right? All of it. The kid’s playing his first NHL game and it’s gotta be awesome in that house.”

[...]

When the Honda Center lights go down and the crowd roars in celebration of a new hockey season, 19-year old Cole Perfetti will take the three strides onto NHL ice that he’s dreamed of his entire life.
He will do so with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for his parents that would be unique for a man of any age.

“They do everything for me,” he says of his mom and dad. “The sacrifices they’ve made … I can’t thank them enough. Words won’t describe how I feel about that. The time and effort that they put in. Late nights. Early mornings. Long drives. All that kind of stuff. Making sacrifices in their own personal lives that allowed me to do what I want to do. The support I get from them is crazy. I can’t thank them enough.”

Perhaps a dinner is in order.

Because after hanging up the phone following Cole’s NHL debut news, the Perfettis have had some luck with their flights.

Mom and dad will both be in Anaheim to watch Perfetti realize his lifelong dream.

Yeah, I get it — and he also did a weird 180 on the “Wheeler injured?” stories, but this kind of thing is his meat n’ potatoes and he does do it very well, in a way he can’t quite manage with the depth/ stats analysis or “What’s wrong with the @#%$ team?” stuff.
