Haven't gone back and looked at anything here yet since stuff first started breaking, but WOW again. I love this for the Canes. We'll see what the future holds, but Tulsky got some big brass ones getting these moves done. And we get them done early enough to let guys gel. I'd imagine we'll still be poking around depth, especially on defense as the deadline draws near. I don't know what's left over to make it all work but I trust the foks in charge to figure it out.
It's scary to have Rantanen as a pending UFA and knowing what the speculated asking price has been but I'd still take that risk. We're going to have plenty of cap space as long as we're willing to offer it and can maybe get him in comfy with the Finns. I guess the absolute worst case is we're going to have some cap space to burn this offseason if he doesn't stay. I said before, he certainly has his share of Necas-like issues but he's a hell of a player and scorer. A much more consistent one.
Necas was frustrating, and I was still ready to move on even after the hot start, but I'll miss him and appreciate all his contributions. I have his Stadium Series jersey as I got it to commemorate the best player in that game. And he had some other big moments with the team. I think he'll fit really well in Colorado and allow them to do some things by the deadline to improve their depth, which they need with the plethora of injuries they've fought all year. I'll also miss Drury even though he was more of a reliable fourth line center instead of a bit higher like I thought he might be.
Hall obviously feels like small potatoes compared to Rantanen, but he's a fun player to add just given his history. Hopefully, he'll be a little rejuvenated playing in Carolina. Nothing like the MVP form, but a good depth scorer.
