It’s so hard as a fan who doesn’t know the player they acquire well lol. Can never parse the crap from the truth. I still don’t know what to believe, there’s more fake news is these threads than on tv lol…
Coyle will never fight and rarely finishes hits *aside from playoffs, but he is as physical along the boards and maintaining possession of the puck on a one man cycle as you will find.

A perfect 3rd line shutdown center for the playoffs.

Not a need for the Bruins hence his moving on.

May be the most incorrect thing typed on this site in a week.

Absolutely embarrassing statement.
Yup. He's not as physical as much you'd think (or hope) he'd be with his size, but furthest thing from soft. Won't be throwing big hits but he absolutely uses his size to his advantage. Monster along the boards.

I really like Coyle - this seems like a bit much for him but when he's used appropriately he's a really great player. Perfect 3C. Can absolutely disappear for stretches at a time but he's a great teammate who has had his fair share of clutch moments. Was put in a way bigger role than he should have been here for the past 2 years and always had a good attitude and performed, especially last year.

I can’t imagine taking Coyle over Mittelstadt, let alone paying a second for the privilege
In defense for CMac....Mittelstadt was penciled as 2C and fell off a cliff.....I mean, he is bad and he is not capable to play in the bottom 6....Coyle should be suited "better" for this....

But thats still a hefty price for Coyle.....Zellers and the 2nd could be a real steal for Boston....

Boston did well I believe the Avs paid to much should of been Mittelstadt and 2nd but adding Zellers was giving Bruins the advantage in this trade!
Is it just me of is Joe Sakic day drinking the last 2 days?

Huge overpayment on both trades.

The only way I his trade makes sense to me is if Colorado has a Necas extension lined up. Just because Mitts deal was set to expire one year after Coyle, and Coyle’s expires the same time as Necas’ current deal.

Even still it’s an overpayment, but I at least understand it better with this in mind.

I don’t know what happened to Mitts. He was great when he got here last year. Started the season well and then it went downhill very fast. Not a fan of the asset management lately.

Coyle a proven 3C, good teammate, protects the puck well down low, surprisingly good hands for big guy, can finish in tight, and has risen to the occasion in the playoffs when needed. But not having a great year. Worse, every now and then he'll make a great play that makes you wonder why he doesn't do that more often. Hopefully the change brings more consistency.

Still makes no sense. Mitts had negative value!

Fine

Johnston
Hintz
Duchene

Still heavier.

It will be fun to watch Dallas/Colorado for sure...being a Stars fan and living in Colorado is a little nuts at times.
Easily the deepest team so im conceding the pissing contest there, but who is their real 3C? That top 9 seem like a blender.
