Can’t tell you how bizarre this is to witness as a Minnesota fan lol

when I saw Gerry Mayhew on the Flyers roster, I knew it was bad

It all clicked when we had Nate Prosser playing last season. Or, maybe not playing, but falling on the ice and being responsible for giving up goals.

Where do Avs’ fans have Foudy and Behrens?
Behrens is inside the top 4-5 for sure, he was ranked too low in that Avs poll in the offseason.

Foudy is probably like 6th or 7th.

HFAvs Pre-season Prospect Rankings
D Bowen Byram
C Alex Newhook
D Justin Barron
RW Oskar Olausson
RW Martin Kaut
D Drew Helleson
C Jean-Luc Foudy
LW Sampo Ranta
D Sean Behrens
G Justus Annunen
C Mikhail Maltsev
C Shane Bowers
C Colby Ambrosio
RW Nikolai Kovalenko
RW Alex Beaucage
D Daniil Zhuravlyov
C Andreas Wingerli
C Andrei Buyalski
G Trent Miner
LW Tyler Weiss
D Nick Leivermann
D Nate Clurman
C Matthew Stienburg- his team did not play last season (covid), would be much higher because he is having a solid year.
I'd say that Byram, Newhook, and arguably (imo) Maltsev have graduated from the prospects list. Maltsev would be playing more in the NHL this year if he didn't have that convenient waivers exemption. His stats have been great and I suspect that he's making it easier for Sakic to consider moving Jost in a Giroux trade given that Maltsev's metrics have been so great and would make him an easy replacement at 4C. In 18 games this year Maltsev has a 55.60% in Corsi, leads the team in hits/60 at 5v5; leads the team in takeaways/60; and is 57.89% on faceoffs. He's gone pointless offensively largely thanks to a low on-ice shot% of 2.60% and 92.5 PDO (i.e. he's been very unlucky), but in the AHL this year he has 22 points in 30 games (and 9 in 33 games with NJ last year), so the scoring should come.

Anyways, graduating those 3 would make the Avs prospect ranking something like this (within the tiers are fairly interchangeable):

Top 10:
Barron
Olausson
Behrens
Helleson

Ranta
Foudy
Annunen (the Avs only legit goalie prospect so probably won't be moved)

Kaut
Bowers
Beaucage

11-20
Ambrosio
Stienburg
Leivermann
Kovalenko
Weiss
Zhuravlyov
Buyalski
Miner
Aman
Clurman

Are any of them? I don’t recall him breaking anything, but does have comments that seem true from time to time.

It would make sense having a middle ground that the flyers are trying to push up as the deadline nears.

I am certain the Flames move today will spark more trades...including this one.

Any interest in a change-of-scenery prospect swap involving Frost and Kaut? Both are struggling to take the next step on their current teams and are waiver eligible next season.

It would have to be Kaut + for Frost. Even at that, the flyers need more center prospects than wingers so doubt it would work.

Frost needs better linemates. He is now scheduled to play on 3rd with Millman and Mayhew both old ahl vets or on 4th Ratcliffe and McEwen not exactly great situation.
Behind Couturier, Hayes, Brassard and Thompson (all hurt by the way) he couldnt crack lineup.
Most wish he would get extended look in losing season with Lindblom and konecny or even Giroux and Atkinson.

After seeing what the Habs got for Toffoli -- the Avs better be prepared to back-up the truck for Giroux. "Kaut and a 1st" lmao.

Yeah, you're right.

So many similarities between a 29 year old Forward signed for 2 more years at $4.5M, and a 34 year old UFA Rental.

The Toffoli deal today has absolutely no impact whatsoever on a Giroux trade.

Deal should be...

Giroux (retained)

for

Olausson, Barron, 1st and 3rd.

lol no - UFA vs someone signed for two more seasons….

you think a rental is worth 3 first round picks AND a 3rd… lmao indeed

One of them is a decent depth player who is on a new team every year. The other is a legit superstar who is on the cusp of potentially going into the Hall of Fame. But, yeah, Toffoli is worth more than Giroux lol.

of course giroux is a better player over his entire career but
factors like age, contract and fit do actually matter

34 year old Giroux is not a superstar.

For the Flyers? Not really. Frost has been impressive with limited opportunities, I really like his game.

For Frost? Sure, he'd probably flourish somewhere else, playing with NHL players.
