I get sentiment on Lundell. What assets does florida have to make a Chychrun trade worthwhile? They apparently want this player badly. So what else is there cause I’m not seeing it in their prospect group. Is there best offer going to be essentially all futures? I don’t know if we can do that.
Luostarinen, Ludvig, Knight and the ‘23 first?

I don't see it either.

That return sucks. I'm going to be pissed if our return is Knight. He'd need to become the best goalie in the world, for a decade, and always on a good contract for me to even remotely see this trade as even. And he cant hit his decade long peak for a few more years because we need to draft and develop some talent in front of him first. We can trade/draft for the next Knight in 3 years.

I like Knight. He’s a good goalie prospect. I also like Swayman in Boston as a goalie prospect. I like the Boston first this year more than Florida’s a year from now.

Usually the 2nd is added to compensate for taking a 2023 1st instead of a 2022 1st.

I think Army wants 2023 picks anyway based on his recent Gambo interview.

The other thing with Chychrun to Florida is he will likely sign a hometown discount there. I realize that's 3 years away but still good to know for them.

It’s only 3-0 who cares
We also have Logan Hustko who’s leading the Checkers in points last time I checked. Gregori Denisenko, Serron Noel big body power forward future, last year’s 24th pick Samoskevich. Maybe a combination of those.
Anyway, at the end of the day it might just not work out and that’s fine, there might be other teams like the Rangers that can beat the Panther’s offers. All I know is we can’t give up Lundell, he’s already a beast for us playing in the 3rd line.

I’m sure those will all be decent players, but I feel like one of the main things Armstrong is looking for her is a name. A good name you can put out there as the reason you traded away a guy who just last September was supposedly untouchable. A pile of stuff, albeit likely pretty good stuff, isn’t gonna cut it I think. That’s why I think Florida will probably not be it as there’s a drop off after Lundell and knight

Ludvig hasn’t played all year. Bad injury. I love Ludvig. Had my eye on him for years. At this point I’d probably rather have Evan Nause. He’s been impressive when I’ve watched Quebec. More importantly, he’s healthy.

My favorite prospect in Florida’s pool is Mackie Samoskevich. I’d take him over either Knight or Denisenko. But even though I like Samoskevich a lot, I don’t think he’s that great of a prospect. There are 18-20 kids in this draft I like more than him, as an example.

To me, personally, just in my own opinion, I’d say Samoskevich is worth about 20th overall and Knight is worth about 30th overall. That ‘23 1st is likely to be somewhere between 20th and 30th overall in 18 months.

I think Knight+Samoskevich+’23 1st is just about the very most I can imagine Zito giving up. And I personally think that that package sucks. I don’t care about goalie prospects at all. And while I like Mackie, he’s a soft, skill winger, who does nifty, cool stuff with the puck. That means he’s a coin toss. Just like Knight. And that pick is a 16 year old right now. That’s a moonshot.

It’s expectation-adjusting time for me I think. Maybe it’s chychrun’s awful game he had tonight, but I’m now fully preparing myself to be very disappointed by whatever we end up getting here.

Neither Noel nor Hutsko are trade assets. These are the textbook definition of a throw-in. They aren’t worth mentioning.

I agree we can use Chara or some other experienced vet and not have to give much.
I just think Lundell is untouchable. To sum him up:

Anton Lundell, F, Florida Panthers: The No. 12 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft has been effective in all areas of the ice, scoring 12 points (five goals, seven assists). He leads NHL rookies with 348 face-offs taken and 159 wins (45.7 percent) playing on a line with left wing Carter Verhaeghe and right wing Anthony Duclair. Lundell averages 16:28 of ice time in 25 games and leads first-year players in even-strength face-off wins (135), defensive-zone wins (172) and shorthanded wins (19). He ranks first among rookie centers with 26 blocked shots and 28 takeaways and is tied for second in penalties drawn (seven).
"He doesn't look like he's a rookie," Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky said. "He's very smart. He looks like he plays an experienced game. On the penalty kill, he's been great, and he's been great on the face-offs. He's been a great addition to our team. He's got so much in front of him."

Rookie Watch: Lundell, Sillinger among best at face-offs

The sort of things he’s doing, I mean, it’s what makes you think, dang, this is the type of kid you want to keep and is going to help you win a cup. You don’t trade this type of rookie away.

Knight on the other hand, as much as I like him, goalies is something I’m not to worried about, I mean you’ve seen last couple of years guys come out of nowhere to win cups like Cam Ward, Antii Niemi, Murray, Bennington.

thank you, likewise and I truly wish nothing but success to the Coyotes franchise, you guys deserve better. Nothing best of luck to the Yotes!
How about we throw in Hayton. :)

Glad about Columbus. This is the most obvious package to me. We get whichever of the two1st round picks is later, Ceulemans, and Foudy. They get Chychrun. It just feels like the right value and the right fit.
This one sounds more reasonable. I would want the earlier 1st. rounder.

Perunovich (roster player)
Neighbors (top prospect)
1st rounder (late)
Hofer (4th component)
Scandella (multi-year dump)

^ it’s towards the lower end of our expectations.

Neighbors is great and is a “culture-changer” but he’s not likely to be a 1st liner and certainly not an above average one.

Perunovich can come in and help make up for the loss of Chychrun on the PP but he’s likely to top out as a bit of a specialist. He’s less than six months younger than Chychrun and just a fraction of the player.

Hofer is a goalie prospect. Even the very best goalie prospects are just a toss up. He’s not the very best goalie prospect. He’s an above average goalie prospect.

The 1st is very late.

But Armstrong was likely instrumental in these selections, likely loves these prospects, and there’s something that feels inevitable about the huge Armstrong vs Armstrong reunion trade.

Also Jeff Marek is really smart. And apart from the Lundell+Knight+1st package he dreamed up, this was the only other hypothetical package he created and actually named all the names.

I don't mind that package at all. I mean I'd prefer we weren't even doing this, but that's evidently not in the cards.

When this trade first came out it was unreasonable. Chych is a #1 pairing, but far from elite, in my eyes anyway. These three or four for one will never happen unless a salary dump is included. That is why if BA can get overpayment, Chych is gone.

When you don’t anchor your statements with examples, the resulting message is without any meaning.

Don't act stupid. You of all people know what has been swirling around the Chychrun trade rumors.

Geeze this discussion here combined with the one on the trade board got really loooong. How many combinations of other team's scrubs can you dream up? One good thing about them trading Chych and Crouse is I will pretty much not give a shit about anybody left on the roster. Probably won't even check the GDTs and box scores anymore. Wake me up in October of '23!

At this point, it's about supporting AT and staff. They've done a marvelous job with this heap.
