@Jamieh - since you’re a Leafs fan, I’d like to ask you about Sandin. This goes for anyone who watches the Leafs.
So, I’m familiar with Sandin. I watched him as an amateur and I’ve seen some NHL games. I like him alright. He’s not tall, but he’s plays a pretty hard game for his size. He’s no wimp and he uses his body to gain an advantage. I really like his positioning. He’s a smart player. Great at being in the right spot. And I like his vision and passing.
He honestly reminds me of the player Goligoski has been recently. The mid-30s version of Goligoski. But not nearly as much of a soft wimp. And also not near as good a skater. So like Goligoski but with heavier boots and actually has a pair of balls.
I’m confident in all of that. I think I’m right about all of that. To me, Sandin is a tougher, slower version of what Goligoski has evolved into in recent years (not the younger version of Goligoski who was a different player altogether - was just a poor man’s Yandle back in the day).
Here’s where I’m confused and need help: Why is he given so many PP minutes and why are all of his underlying PP numbers so incredibly horrendous? Seems like he’s PP kryptonite. And yet he’s gets tons of chances. What the heck is the story there?!?!?
