Rumor: Chychrun has Soured on Ottawa, Unlikely to Extend

Lets bash them while they down. Why people are so nasty?

I think a big part of it is how much hype they've been getting in the media for a couple of years now + how much boasting the fanbase does every off-season only for the team to fall flat on its face each time. They never seem to learn their lesson.

It's a funny combo.

Isn't Ottawa just a bigger, more French version of Regina? Can't say I wouldn't want out after a year too.

It's a government town through and through, with not much to offer people. Regina is a bit of an undersell, but it's also nowhere near the kind of city say Washington DC, London, Paris, Mexico City and Rome are.

Yeah that happened all of 2 times, and you also had non-Sens fans who thought the team would improve a lot.

What are the needs for OTT? Guessing a top 4 RD since that's what they have Chychrun pegged as.

Top 4 RD would be nice, but probably doesn't happen in the Chychrun trade if it's to a playoff team.

Something like mid to late 1st/equivalent prospect, 2nd, cap dump/reclamation project to make the money work. Adjusted slightly depending on how much of a cap dump is headed to Ottawa.

I mean, this is really stupid.

How many players play their career with one-team period? And for those that don't, how many is it for reasons that have to do with not wanting to play in Canada? On top of that, the majority of teams in the NHL are in the US. So yeah, overwhelming chance a player ends up on a US team at some point in time.

This is without getting into how player movement has changed over the years.
I think its interesting, i mean 300 players and +400 games played in NHL and only one american player basically has spent his entire NHL career in Canada so far. There is more than 1 team in Canada, i would think that someone could spent his entire career playing in 2 or 3 of them. But yeah there is more teams in US, so it is more likely when a chance of scenery happens, it involves crossing the border.
Players spending their entire career with one team is super rare as is. There is almost 4x as many American teams as there is Canadian so the odds of a player spending their whole career in Canada is slim to begin with.

Especially in the cap era.
Not that rare and yes there is more teams in US but whats the average for one player? How many teams? 2-3?

But what do they have to offer at this point?

A single 1st isn't going to be enough, and they have no 2nd round picks in the next 3 years.
And no 1st in 2025...prospect pool nearer to the bottom of the league than the top...all the assets they could/should move have NMCs and the ones that are more viable to move have NTCs and wouldn't fetch anything anyway. All they can realistically do is look to '25-'26.

Americans on small market Canadian teams. Match made in hell.
He literally lives in Ottawa and thats where his family is from. Back to the drawing board.

He just posted an article on his own socials about him going on about how much he likes it here. Maybe thats a little more reliable than some twitter poster who throws shit at a wall daily.
