Rumor: Chychrun has Soured on Ottawa, Unlikely to Extend

Thing is the reason Dorion traded for DBC and Chychrun is because the players on the Sens wanted the team to take the next step.

Both players are younger guys, so it made sense future-wise

In a vacuum absolutely. But Dorion needed to find out if Debrincat wanted to stay long term before making the move. He clearly didn't, as Debrincat was reportedly shocked at the trade.

And Chychrun makes sense if he could play the right side, which was t he assumption from the fan base. That clearly isn't true.

Both guys look good on paper, but Dorion jumped the gun on both moves and its going to cost the team.

lol no, DeBrincat has zero to do with speculation that Chychurn might not re-sign. Your just trolling now in a thread that has nothing to do with DBC.

You're welcome to re-read the OP you objected to, to see where Debrincat is relevant to the discussion:

This is why you don't start selling futures before you're actually competing. OTT learning this lesson twice, apparently.

And what's hilarious is, Detroit and Boston could very well play each other in the first round, which makes it a 50% chance that the Debrincat pick is 29th or later.

Don't let any of this distract from the fact that you're rabbit trailing this badly to try to get away from admitting you were wrong in your claim that a Boston/Detroit first round wouldn't mean a 50% chance that Ottawa picks 29th or later.

To be clear: I pointed out the Debrincat situation in comparison to this supposed Chychrun situation and made a statement about their possible poor pick placement from that trade. You flat out said that my statement was wrong. When I pointed out that it wasn't wrong, you first tried trolling about how Detroit can't win, because you knew you were wrong, and when that didn't work and it was again pointed out that you were wrong, you're now trying to hide behind "Stay on topic".

I'm very on topic. I've been on topic. You're dragging this out because you wont just:

A. Admit you were wrong.

or

B. Just tuck tail and ghost the conversation because you were wrong.

LOL...gotta love this! LOL

Sens fans were planning a parade because they beat LA to get him...one year later they will trade him and take a loss on the trade, similar to the Cat. LOL Keep up the good work Sens!

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks Debrincat is relevant to the topic... Probably at least a dozen or two more posts bringing him up, that I'll refrain from quoting.

Definitely going home to Florida or Tampa.
On a rental trade, maybe. But long term, Tampa doesn't have the cap space. Florida technically does, but has some pretty significant UFA's to re-sign.

EDIT: Rental probably ain't happening either. Neither Tampa nor Florida has their 2024 or 2025 1st round picks. No 2024 2nd for either team, either.

He's certainly been turmoil in his career. Ottawa has to learn value character more

It’s funny because Dorion always put huge emphasis on character at the draft.

Unfortunately, as a low character individual, he wasn’t able to identify good character in others.

It's funny to me that the player who asked out for Arizona because of shit results ended up on a team that's got a worse record than Arizona since the trade.

To put into perspective just how bad the Senators are, they're a staggering 15 points (!) behind the rebuilding Canadiens. 15. After six or seven straight seasons of playoff misses.

He Duchene'd himself.

I think the more bewildering thing for me, at least in the Debrincat scenario, is that he was apparently willing to trade #7OA without even bothering to talk to Debrincat and feel out whether he had any interest in extending.

Unless Debrincat just flat out lied to him.

No he specifically said he asked Chicago if he could talk to Cat and Chicago said no so he didn’t.

Any half decent GM would walk away at that moment.

:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

Just keeps getting worse and worse. Sucks. This was supposed to be Red Wings next rivalry!

America bound. Americans simply don’t want to play in Canada
True. He has also expressed that he wants to play for a team that wins hockey games though, so that's likely part of it.

Are you serious? It's a very similar situation, brought upon by similar mistakes made by the same GM. Seems like it is a comparable situation to me.

Except for our Captain and Top D man who signed 8yrs deals with us.

Those were RFA deals to be fair. Players don't have a ton of leverage there.

This is such a myth. Kyle Connor, Helle, just re-signed to play in Winnipeg. Matthews just re-signed in Toronto. JT Miller re-signed in Vancouver. Cole Caufield re-signed in Montreal for 8 years. More examples probably exist.

Toronto is different from the rest of Canada so they'll never have issues keeping American players.

I will trade kandre miller and barclay goodrow for him like yesterday. I throw in goodrow to rid us of his salary and you guys get a solid high upside dman under team control for a few more years

Sens fans (and most experts) were expecting them to roughly be a wild card team. It's quite the stretch to claim any of them were 'planning the parade' unless you don't know what that actually refers to...

Yzerman needs to get on the phone with Ottawa and set up another fleecing.

No, thank you.

Besides having a younger, less expensive, and home-grown option waiting for a roster spot in Edvinsson, I've yet to see or hear anything about Chychrun's play that justifies the hype this guy gets.
