Nylander isn't close to value for a #1 D.
It was a typo. Typed that on my tiny phone screen.
And he at least has more value than Tanev, who's a #2. Players with 70 to PPG 1C upside don't come cheap

Tanev would be a nice fit with Morgan, but he's not a top pairing guy imo. Maybe on the Canucks or leafs he would be, two of the worst teams in the league last season, but I find it hard to believe that a guy who has never put up more than 20 points is a top pairing defensemen.. He'd still probably be our 2nd or 3rd best dman atm. He's probably a good #3 or #4 on a good team but not top pair.
Definitely not a player I'd give up on Nylander or Marners potential though lol.. Anyone who thinks that would be delusional imo.
Not sure either what makes him world's better than Kadri either, but I'm sure neither team knows much of both players. I'd probably take it based on the state of our defense though.

Canucks/Leafs trade proposals always go over so well.
I'd offer Kadri + prospect + pick for Tanev. I don't think Vancouver would accept though.

A trade that would leave us without our top shutdown guy and add another middling center to our team.. I want a potential #1 center for Tanev.
I'd rather keep Tanev and let him stay as a leader for the next youth group and make a run with them than be trading him for Kadri.
Lol your post shows how much you know. Tanev wouldn't get you even close to marner our nylander

An elite shutdown defensive defenseman. But I agree Tanev is an amazing #2 but needs to put up more points to be considered a #1.

It would take more than Kadri. 2Cs have significantly less value than #2 dmen and as much as a deal around Nylander might make sense for both teams (Reilly/Tanev would be an awesome top pairing for a long time and Nylander would far and away be Vans top forward prospect and on a line with the Sedins ��) I like our 3 headed monster of Matthews/Nylander/Marner way too much to move any of those guys. Draft/develop/move other assets but keep those 3 for as long as possible
Never implied Tanev was a #1D. He's a 2-3 D at most. That's why Nylander gets the conversation going.

Trust me, it doesn't make sense for the Leafs to move Nylander - particularly for a vet at this point of the Leafs rebuild.

Probably not a good idea to use a trade that was universally criticized as one-sided as the benchmark for deals going forward. I don't buy the Tanev>>Larsson either - Tanev may be a better player today but he's also 3 years older, and the gap between them isn't that big. You're either overrating Tanev or underrating Larsson - FWIW, I see Tanev as a defense-first #2, Larsson is a #2-3 with upside
