Faceoffs are always extremely important to think about.

I don't mean they should be neglected but they should not be the primary concern in your roster creation when your team is not anywhere close to contend for anything but a lottery win

One of the top 8 teams in FO% in the playoffs is not already eliminated and 3 of the bottom 5 are still in. Faceoffs are important but often focused on as the reason a team can't gain possession when there are a lot of others

I think it is good to keep Dvorak around given he's still relatively young and can be our #2C until Wright takes over. However, the one thing that makes me intrigued in trading him would be he's on a very good deal for the next 3 years for a middle 6 centre and teams close to the cap will be interested in paying a high price for him based on that.

The Wild could use help at C, while other playoff teams like Boston/Pittsburgh/NYR might need help depending on what happens with Bergeron/Malkin/Strome.

If we could get a veteran guy like Stastny as a stop-gap for a year or two, I wouldn't be against trading him if we could grab a return similar or higher than what we paid for Dvorak. Someone like Stastny would be a good leader to have around Suzuki/Wright and it isn't like we'll be close to a playoff team anytime soon anyways.

I just realized Dvorak had his best PPG season with the Habs.

Who should be his wingers next season?

I actually like Evans, but there's still big question marks over his durability, and while I think he is better than your typical 4C, you shouldn't slot him as your 2C either.
Habs going speed. Dvorak will Toffoli. Good player but not the direction we are going. Game is going towards the Mackinnons, McDavids speed guys. They will trade Dvorak at deadline. Heavy center, good on faceoffs, give you 20 goals. He will fetch big return

If Wright is making the team, having Suzuki, Dvorak and Evans as the other Cs is ideal to shelter him. Poehling can move to the wing.

I would give him Drouin and Anderson. They did well in the pre-season then injuries ruined their tandem.

I would also consider
Armia with Suzuki/Caufield
Hoffamn-Wright-Gally
Poehling-Evans-???

Hoping HuGo has a chat with him by saying that if he actually wants to go elsewhere he needs to play with more intensity because nobody will want him otherwise. He clearly doesn't want to be here but isn't doing anything for him to get traded.

He had a slow start last year too, hopefully he finds some offence soon. Almost had one tonight. At the least he’s solid defensively even if not scoring which you can’t say about many on our roster.

thanks for giving up a first bergy
You'd be happy as hell to get a Dvorak that late in the draft.

Leblanc at 18
Tinordi at 22
Nate the Great at 17
McCarron at 25
Scherbak at 26
Juulsen at 26
Poehling at 25

I'll take Dvorak thank you very much...

What's wrong with Dvorak? We gave up the 29th pick for him and Arizona drafted Lamoureux with that pick.

He's a fine player.

When you draft in that range you usually don't even get an NHLer...
He knew Price and Weber were done. Having Dvo + Hoffman prevented us from keeping Lehkonen. We also give up a high 2nd next year.

Not sure about that, Dvorak makes sense anyway because we lost Danault and KK, we needed a center, but I doubt he signs Hoffman knowing Weber and Price are done.

Also this is what contenting team are going to be looking add at the TDL faceoff and reliable 200ft game, probably won’t get traded this year but those will always be thing that are valuable for playoff team so it should maintain is value even if is production doesn’t pick up

That’s your maestro at work. One good move, followed by a bad move, with no clear path or plan.

... wow

you really threw yourself deep into meaninglessness with this one

The Dvorak signing was a genius move. Another GM was flexing on us and disrespecting the franchise, so Bergevin called his bluff, let KK go and signed his replacement to send a signal to the world at large: no one is gonna push us around. Who cares about Dvorak's actual performance after that. The point was the Maestro's stoic response to Carolina's shenanigans and affront. Thank God the Bergevinator knew how to handle these punks.

He's gone by TDL or 2023 summer at latest. Need to make room for the new wave of centers
