I remember after he came up he had that coming out in the playoffs and the next season there was talk that Torts was trying to turn him into a PF type, using him for screens in front of the goalie on the PP etc. We were very annoyed, how could CK use his speed and nice shot as just a screen setting guy, he needs to be getting breakways all day or be the guy firing those shots on the PP with shlubs like Voros setting the screen! CK agreed and was in love with his speed and played a finesse game and got sent down for it...Torts was right and CK is now a beastman for it

Torts has a bad rep among Rangers fans but he is usually right about a lot of things.

62 goal season pace.

If he can get to 35 that would be a huge season for him, career year by 7.

He would need to get 24 in 68 games. He got 20 in 50 last season.

So this season and last that's 32 in 66, good for .484 GPG which is a 40 Goal season

He's figured out how he needs to score.

I had stepped in on the roster rebuild thread and I don’t really spend much time there more of a player discussion and GDT dweller.

But anyway, I said why do people have Kreider on a 3rd line with guys like Kakko, Laf, and Kravtsov in the Top 6 over him. Those 3 are not proven Top 6 guys yet. Plus, now Kreider has more “Goals” than Kakko and Laf have “Points” combined, and he has looked amazing this season and it’s pushing 20 games now.

Maybe given my age, being in my late 30’s I tend to root for the vets to find the fountain of youth and break out at 30 yo or older. The kids are fun to watch but they have their entire career ahead of them.

As I mentioned he's got 32 goals in his last 66 games and if you think back before that he was red hot when they ended the season due to Covid as well. He was on pace for a career year, 30+ goals.

If you look at the last 3 calendar seasons he's scored 56 goals in 129 games. 36 goal pace over 82.

He scored almost 30 in the last full year prior to that in 18-19

I'm not sure if he is the same player, mainly because he's figured it out on the PP.
36% of the 76 in the last 3 are PP goals, prior that it was only 13%.

Naturally over the same two time frames his shooting percentage has swung from 12.6% to a whopping 19.6%.

Sustainable? Well maybe not the shooting percentage, but this hot streak is seemingly here to stay at least in the immediate future with the way he's figured out how to master his play in front of the net.

I think this is a different Kreider, not the inconsistent version we all know. I think Gallant's presence has really helped him take the next step. This is no hot streak. It's going to be a season-long consistent performance. You can tell. He's engaged. He's not floating out there skating routes that don't make sense. He's skating with a purpose all the time. When's the last time you saw him finish a lateral feed like that 5v5?

While I’m all aboard the Kreider career season hype train, he has 56 goals in his last 129 games, not 76. That’s still an impressive 36 goal clip. The only players pacing 48 over the last 3 seasons are Mathews, Draisaitl, and Ovechkin.

Maybe an assistant captain on that team. I bet Kane is Captain with 2 of either Larkin Kreider Oshie Matthews wearing the A’s

Fox will be their best defenseman. Does someone like Jones also make team USA? He has team USA International Experience

I’ve never seen him be this involved this consistently. I do expect him to go cold again but not for lack of trying. It happens. Goal scorers are streaky. I never once expected Kreider to keep scoring goals consistently. I just wanted some effort. Hope he keeps it going. If not, then others gotta step up too.

The big thing for Kreider this year is that hes been mostly effective even when he hasn't scored.

His worst games have been when Zibanejad completely takes a deuce on the ice so I'm not even sure its him.
