No.
I am on record, no sacred cows, and I stand by that.

However, until we KNOW at least ballpark what Kreider's ceiling is, we are likely to shortchange ourselves too much by moving him to a team that would also want to know what that ceiling is, and want to pay a discount for the gamble.

I agree with this. Yes, he has played like ****. Yes, he hasn't earned the time yet. But at the same time, you see an improvement in his game over the season. That's really all you can ask for. For him to keep improving. I personally think he has played much better in his few games in the playoffs than he did in this shortened season (although not saying much due to sample size). He is using his body like a wrecking ball and is not getting knocked off the puck as easily. He's added some spark to the 4th line. Is he going to make mistakes? Yes, everyone does. Add to the fact that he's a rookie.

I'm not trying to say that it's all on Torts or that he hasnt played like ****. Just that he's getting better. Would you rather him stay the same player as we say during the season or would you rather have a player improve, although slowly, but still improve.

If suggesting a trade for a 22 year old rookie that had a poor 23 games isn't a knee jerk reaction, then I don't know what is
 
Honestly, when you have a young kid who is in the 225, 230 pound range that can skate like that and can score... I think you do what you have to do to develop him and keep him. There are not a lot of guys his size who can skate like that and score. While I do feel Torts has some tactical weaknesses, I think he's been excellent at developing the young players. And he seems to have a good sense of when to lean on a player and when to lean off. And I think Kreider will find his way here and be a solid player for us, if we have a little patience.

For the most part, yes. Was speaking more to some of the *****ing on prior pages and the key point I was getting at was patience. You have to admit, the general patience level kinda sucks here. You see the same crap with DZ, and people seem to forget DZ is actually younger than McDonagh.

Lack of patience is more like when people ***** about the coach and want to banish him to Siberia.

Saying that Kreider played like **** this season and hoping he plays better next season - to the point where he can start making some sort of contribution - isnt lack of patience. Its more like reviewing whats happened.

But all I've seen here is people criticizing Kreider's current level of play, and others making it about his potential.

Im curious as to why this happens when most of these same posters are so readily willing and able to bash other players and/or coaches.

Yeah, it's generally all the *****ing... coach, players etc. Or the flip side. A guy has a great game and becomes the next coming of Moses. I've done my fair share of *****ing about Torts, like you mentioned, but it's been the same *****ing since 2011. It's not knee jerk. Sorry, I guess I just find the knee jerk bipolar posting a little weird at times.

I think Kreider is good where he is. Play him sheltered minutes with Richards and Asham and hope he catches some third pair defensemen sleeping. I would, however, give him some powerplay time. Let's see what he can do posted in front of the net.
 
Nobody wants to wait for Kreider to continue to develop because so many people are forgetting that the Rangers aren't really in "win now" mode, and thats why they are frustrated that this kid isnt a perennial 20 goal scorer this year. Everyone was so ready to peg him as a top 6 forward as a rookie this year before he played a game. That doesn't happen all that often for rookies. This team is incredibly young, except for a few pieces, and I think these past two years have been ahead of the trajectory these young kids were supposed to be on. Because the Rangers were so close to winning it last year and might get back there again this year, people are panicked that Kreider isn't ready immediately. Give it some time, he wont disappoint.

Why does Kreider deserve ice time over say a Brian Boyle or Taylor Pyatt, both who have produced on the PP before parking in front of the net. There is simply no room for him.

I think it's time now. Throw any **** at the wall to see if it sticks. (Not implying players are **** btw, lol). Kreider in top 6 with Stepan, Callahan to 4th line duties with Beavs and Asham.
