Inconsistent? No. Hes been consistently bad. 19 shots in 23 games this year. 230 minutes of ice-time. Even if you have **** linemates that ENTIRE time, which he didnt, thats still a huge red flag that hes not being productive on the ice whatsoever. The first step here is admitting theres a problem.

I like the way he played in game 7 minus the terrible read on Green's partial breakway. Maybe he can use that as a building block.
Considering the whole team was extremely inconistent all year until the last 10 games or so and the kid is a rookie who is still learning im not gonna say he is a bust. I dont think he has been consistently bad i think he has been very inconsistent. I am a fan of Kreider's but im also trying to be objective. he didnt have teh year i was expecting but we have seen flashes of what he can do. A lot of hockey players tale time to develop so considering he just turned 22 i still feel he is gonna be a big player for us down the road. next year will be a good year for him IMO

Some have.

You say that like someone did call him a bust.

Bleed Ranger Blue is insinuating it--heavily.

Has Kreider been as good as everyone thought he would be? No, not even close. But let's cut the kid some slack please. He ended his AHL season w/ 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in 14 games. Hopefully with a full Torts training camp next year he'll be ready. He is essentially a rookie still, defensive mistakes are expected and often teams will live with it....but b/c of the shortened season we obviously could not.

That said, the other night was promising but he has to show consistency.

Average of 10 minutes of ice time per game, 23 games, 230 minutes this season. How much longer does he need?

This comment is ridiculous. Some players take longer to get their game going. 230 minutes of playing time means jack****. Like I said, it's coming. He's been playing better. Most players play better with consistent ice time. It puts them in a groove. Has Kreider earned it yet? No, and that's on him. But he will get there. He's getting better. That's all you can ask for right now. Especially in the middle of the NHL playoffs.

Remember when Seguin was getting scratched and sitting out games for the bruins a few years ago? Not saying he will get to that level, but my point stands.

********. I havent said one thing about what the kid will be. My comments strictly adhere to what he has been this season, which is virtually invisible. I wasnt stupid enough to say he'd be a top 6 fixture this season like the majority of this board, and Im not stupid enough to declare a 22 year old a bust going forward.

I know I know. Lets not trust what I've seen, lets trust what you think is coming...

In regards to Seguin, he was 18 years old when that happened. Im not ready to write him off, but this team needed a lot more from Kreider this year and hes been unable to provide anything at all.

I have no problem with different opinions. But i just wanted to ask you a question do you want kreider here next year or do you want him gone?

Keep him. Thats a silly question, although in the realm of knee-jerk reactions on this board. Just because Im criticizing his ****** season doesnt mean I want him gone or think hes going to be a failure next year. I think you need to get that through your head before you spew more platitudes about the great player Kreider is going to be. Because that stuff is way more ridiculous than anything Ive said.

First off all there is no need to be nasty. I asked you a simple question and i never tried to talk for you. In fact i just said i respected your opinion. I dont appreciate you talking to me like that.

Alright, enough. Don't accuse each other of wishing our own friggin' guys to fail. That's garbage and trolling. Keep it on each others points, not characters.

I think my favorite part of these past couple pages is the criticism of kreider having a low amount of shots with 230 minutes of ice time and the question being posed 'how much more time does he need?'

He is still a young ROOKIE in the NHL. Other prospects are allowed time but not Kreider? He hasn't exactly played with the best players this year. When he has played with Richards specifically, he has looked better. His only goals during the regular season were with richards on the ice. He thrives with more competent players.

Bottom line, you cannot in anyway complain about Kreider needing more time. How about Torts? How much more time are we going to give him with the PowerPlay that has been god awful since he's been here. Just a decent PP would've ended the caps series sooner. But noooo can't criticize Torts. Just Kreider gets the full blunt of negativity.

Kreider (as does seemingly everything this year) deserves his share of the blame. There are a few sides to every problem and its unfair to make one side shoulder the blame.

I am not going to sit here and say none of this is kreider's fault. He has been uninvolved at times. He needs to round out his game. He went down to CT. The second time he went down he elevated his game. He came back at the end of the season and he was trying to be more involved. Trying to show something. I just don't like the tone of some posters here. They place full blame on Kreider. They criticize him over and over again when it is not all on him.

he's been on the 4th line with pretty much no PP time this season. not sure how much you're expecting from him. i thought he's been playing very physical and skating hard lately. he doesn't seem like the guy who creates his own offense out of thin air so expecting him to put up a lot of points with richards and asham is unreasonable.

I hear you pal. Even though im a fan of kreider i am still fair. I agree at time he has been uninvolved which surprised me considering last year in the playoffs he was one of our better players even though he just came from college. Also i agree he needs to round out his game this summer and having a full training camp with preseason games will help even more. I also agree that Kreider has done better since coming back in march. His defense is never gonna be great because he is an offensive player which is ok.

Its pretty cut and dry. Its a lot easier to answer than countless other debates going on around here. For instance, Chris Kreider is much more at fault for his issues this season than John Tortorella was for all the Rangers problems -- including the development of Chris Kreider.

I just dont know why its so difficult to say "Man, Kreider - like a lot of other players - played like **** this season and I hope he turns it around and/or plays closer to his potential next season."
