Kreider makes some bad plays out there in his own zone.

it's growing pains.

Fair enough and I agree with you, pass it on to Torts
Are they making mistakes? Sure. They are kids, and going forward they are going to be huge parts of this team. Who got the 2 best scoring chances against the Habs? A guy who played pretty much no minutes tonight in JT Miller. Kreider scored the last goal between our 2 consecutive shutouts, and had a few good scoring chances. Why is he in the dog house when you need offense? Like I said, play the kids. Live with their mistakes. They are long term solutions, not guys like Boyle, Pyatt, or Powe.

well Jt sat bc of the second goal last night.. Kreider played on 4th line, which is nuts!!

but honestly.. everyone relax.. torts is going to ride his top lines and live and die by them right now.. we're on very thin ice.. trying to stay afloat to keep pace for the playoffs..how can you be mad or question that right now?

If a kid is going to develop at the NHL level you have to be patient with the growing pains. The problem we have is that with the shortened season and the current situation we find ourselves we have no room for error because every point could mean the difference in a playoff spot.

Combine that with the fact that we simply don't have any other alternatives because we don't have any organizational depth and we find ourselves in the spot we are currently in with Kreider and Miller. Both of whom should be developing with the Whale.

Just baffling how the org can think playing your top prospect 3min a night with Powe and Pyatt is a good idea.

Not ready to deal with some growing pains? Send him down then. It's ridiculous.

Agreed. What was the point of bringing him up if you're just going to keep him under the microscope like this? Kid was on a tear in CT and now they've sucked all the momentum out of him. Just stupid.

If he wants to ride his top lines to wins in a shortened season I get that. Send miller and kreider back down to the Whale and let them play and learn so the next time they come up they are more ready. If we need bodies then call up career AHLers like Mash or Newberry, guys who can play 3-5 minutes a night and no one will care. Don't do that with the "future" of this organization. Makes no sense.

Can somebody tell me why he is in the dog house?

Plain and simple, torts doesn't trust them and this is no time to be learning on the job with 10+ games left in the season.
If Gabby and Richards weren't struggling and we had a little morè depth, neither Krieder or Miller would be up here.

The really stupid part of all this is Kreider is about to complete his 2nd year of his ELC and if for argument sake he finally gets it next year, plays consistent minutes and contributes, then what would his actual worth be going into a new contract for the 2014/15 season?

Kreider did not deserve to be on the 4th line. Miller was garbage out their last night and he was still getting some shift after being responsible for the 2nd goal.

Amen!

This isn't how you develop a rookie. Play him or KEEP him down in the ahl. Frustrating.

I don't know. If Gabby and Richards were playing like they should be, mistakes by rookies wouldn't be such a big deal. As it is, if either of them costs a goal, the team's odd of a win plunge dramatically because the offense is crippled.

Kreider should be getting more ice time than Miller that's for sure. But yet Torts continues to let him rot on the 4th line. I get rolling 3 lines in the 3rd period of a tight game because we needed that win bad. But in the 1st and 2nd having Kreider on the 4th line is a waste of his talent and harmful to his development. He needs to see the ice. And he can help this team when he does see the ice. Instead we have frickin Boyle on the PP last night. A joke. I really thought Tort's was playing an April Fools joke on us last night with those line combinations.

I think playing him 3 minutes a game with Taylor Pyatt and Darrell Powe is EXACTLY the way to develop him properly... :sarcasm:

So because Kreider and Miller have no/little experience, they should be kept from playing and gaining experience so the team can "keep winning" (lol). But the organization wants them to develop. But they're on the bench for 3/4 of the game or playing with grinders on the 4th line instead of having top-flight minutes in the AHL playing in a variety of roles/situations. I don't get why Kreider and Miller were looked at to solve the offense problem here. Neither are allowed to play through anything (well Miller is/was) and get glued to the bench if they blink wrong. And if Torts isn't confident in them and doesn't trust them, why does he suddenly trust them to create all this offense for a team like this? And then proceeds to play them for less than 10mins a game? Everything said and done is completely contradictory to each other and what the supposed intent was to having them on the Rangers.

Knew this would be a mistake. Kid should have been allowed to ride his hot streak in Hartford. The Pejorative Slured decisions this year are more than not.

I don't really get it - I think he was good about getting back and frankly has been the superior player to Miller. I liked all of his 3 shifts. Didn't understand why he didn't get more ice time.

Coincidental that Kreiders "drop in play" happened as soon as he was put on the 4th line for the Montreal game?

Has been playing well and Torts doesnt trust him. Put him on a line w/Stepan and Cally.
Nash, Richards, Gabby.

Krieder would lite it up playing with D Step

I haven't been able to see many games recently, can someone comment on what's been lacking in Kreider's play? Is he missing his defensive assignments? Not back-checking? Not providing adequate puck support? Not blocking shots? Losing board battles? None of the above?

I don't normally pay a lot of attention to a forward's defensive zone play unless they make glaring errors so I'd like to get an idea of what to look for to see whether he's improving.

torts is a complete idiot with kreider. doesn't know how to manage talent. that's why richards and gaborik are so severely underperforming. #FIRE_TORTS #WINNING

That's my biggest gripe.

Krieder seems very emotional as well for what it's worth, kid needs playing time to build on the confidence.
