The woke ignorance in here is mindboggling. Stop trying to name call people as mysogynists because they disagree with you.
NOBODY IS SAYING THIS BECAUSE WE DON"T WANT WOMEN PLAYING MENS HOCKEY.
Stop making this a political silencing attempt. If you took the time to look at the science, biology, data and evidence you will see that at some point after males reach puberty women cannot compete against men in virtually every physical sport. Especially hockey. That isn't saying that ALL men are stronger than ALL women. That is saying the best women aren't anywhere near the level of the best men. I am willing to bet there are 10,000 men better than the best woman. Seriously. I sometimes think that people actually agree with this but are afraid to admit it becasue they are afriad of people just like them from calling them the exact same thing that they are calling others. It's okay to talk about differnet opinions with facts and evidence without thinking that there is a hate or phobia or narrative to bring down that group.
A little off topic but somewhat related. Leah Hextall sucks. Not because she is a women, but because she actually sucks. I think a women can call play by play and good enough to be the best. I don't think anything is stopping them from the opportunity from being the best. But that is using a brain which is an equal advantage to a man.

If the WHL was filled with a max age of 16 year olds then she may be able to compete in the league. But it isn't. The strength gained by boys after the age of 16 in a physical sport is a clearcut advantage.
Team Canadas womens team struggles to beat local minor midget AAA teams.

I used to play pick up with two of the last cuts of team Canadas womens hockey team. Mind you there were some of us that played pro and a couple others that played junior but for the most part it was a little better than average mens league. Those girls worked their ass off. They were in their prime and best shape a female athelete could be and we were in our early thirties and they still couldn't compete. They would rarely score in a pick up game that lacks defense. They were fast but didn't have the strength to get the puck off of us when we protected it. Imagine if it was physical hockey. They would be worse off. And most of the men weren't even going 100% it was pickup hockey.
Comparing short NHLers who probably have legs that are virtually as thick as that girls torso is laughable.

I wish this kid luck and she will obviously get a good education out of this and be able to play for the country. But unfortunatley for her, she won't make any money, because very few people have an interest in paying for tickets and battling traffic for watching a womens pro team when you can go to your local arena and watch the same level caliber for free.

Normal People: Unicorns don't exist. We've never found one.

True Believers: Unicorns exist. We just haven't found one yet.

No one is mad at this kid. If we're "mad" at anyone it's the people who pulled the stunt and then force all to nod along and play the game as if we don't know what they're up to..
Okay. I just dont see any problem with it, any way you put it. Is it because you think the team "wasted" a pick as a PR-stunt on a girl? If you're not a fan of the team, that would be a good thing, right? If it is your team who did it, a 13th round pick - its not an actual tragedy either.

This is an underdog story, and against all odds if she could make the team and impress anyone. I didnt think that was such a horrible thing to cheer on or support.

And nevermind War, human trafficing, corruption, cartels, murder, food production shortage, inflation - THIS is whats wrong with the world; a 14 year old girl gets drafted into Canadian Junior Hockey for men. That you have to agree is funny!

Is this a publicity stunt? It feels like when Michael Sam was picked very late in the 7th round of the NFL draft because he was openly gay when he was clearly not good enough.

So out of all I wrote, the only thing you could answer to was that?

Yikes man... I know, its tough to be targeted and you have to do introspection to admit you are privileged, or you can just deny it and go the Jordan Peterson way.
What in the **** are you talking about lmao

Good on her, hope she has a future on the national team.

The irony is the same people who are cheering this on are the same ones who cheer on Lia Thomas destroying women's records. You really can't make it up.
Lia isn’t even a hockey player, and was a man. What in the heck are you even taking about comparing her to this young girl?

What in the **** are you talking about lmao

Good on her, hope she has a future on the national team.
What about her future in the CHL on the Giants?

I’m guessing we all saw Girard get squished against the wall tonight. Imagine this young girl playing against 20 year old young men. Some of those young men will weigh well over 200 pounds and skate very very fast. Girard got hit by a much heavier guy moving at high speed. (Plenty of momentum) Do the math. This girl could be injured badly in a collision with a much heavier and faster moving young man who out weighs her by 70 pounds.
It’s cool she is good enough to get drafted. But who is responsible for her safety? Yes boys can get injured too, but should we be putting girls against young men in physical battles, like in hockey?

Can we just drop the whole gender equality in sports act? You can support women's rights without digging your head in the sand and ignoring biology, as it's borderline offensive to women. Sorry but you're not fooling anyone and you're most certainly not going to gain any progressive street cred on a hockey message board. It just comes off as performative and fake.

This draft selection was more of a statement than a valid selection, as no one actually thinks a female hockey player is going to compete against older boys/men. And it's not misogynistic to acknowledge that fact.

What if Chloe gets injured badly in a collision with a much heavier young man? Who bares the responsibility? She’s too young, so it’s not her. What if the young man is 18+, is it him? Is it her parents for allowing her to play a collision sport against young men? Is it the Giants for drafting her and putting her on the ice with much bigger players who are young men?
Would we put a 15-16 year old girl at linebacker on a football team like Clemson and have her go through one on one tackling and blocking drills?
Of course not. So why do we accept that the Giants will actually ever put this girl into a situation where she truly competes against the young men? obviously, the Giants will not do that. So, why did they draft her?
