Champions Hockey League for 2021/2022

His argument was that they'll have to do with 3.5 million euros and to really compete with programs like Red Bull has in Salzburg they would need four times more.

I mean Olimpija is leading the ICEHL with a budget of barely over 2 mil euros so.. Aaand their top scorer is French. I would really love to ask him some follow-up questions.

Tappara is losing 4 of their key players to national team at Channel One Cup. I doubt they play at the secong matchup against Rouen. So Rouen definitely have a chance.

The ICEHL is an interesting league in that different teams have very different cost structures, Olimpija has found success despite (or because of) being in one extreme. In most European leagues all teams have similar expenses, have to pay the same taxes and so on, but there it's very different.

Tappara is willing to send 4 of their players to the EHT, thus missing the second game. Tells you a little something about the marching order... Though I think it is pretty obvious that for an individual player EHT is more important than the CHL. Definitely opens up a very nice window for Rouen for an upset. Wouldn't that be financially pretty great for them aswell? The price money starts to get quite significant, specially for a team like Rouen, their player bugdet for a season cannot be alot more than 500k looking at the roster.
SHL teams are more or less obliged to send players to NT for EHT. Not sure what that means for game two of the Frölunda and Lexand QF? Even still, losing 4 players to the NT should be manageable for Tappara. They should win regardless.

No, it isn't something Tappara can decide upon whether to let players to the EHT or not. Tappara is obliged to let players join the national team. Also no, Tappara wasn't willing to let them miss the important CHL game. So Tappara negotiated and it was agreed upon that the players travel from Paris to Prague right after the game to late-join the EHT squad.

They will miss a domestic league game on Friday at least, though. I'm unsure if they will be available on Monday against KalPa. I just pray they won't bring the virus with them this time. I wouldn't like to see a repeat of what happened last year. After the Sweden EHT a whole lot of our key players, both Finns and Czechs, were out of games for weeks. Kemiläinen, who is now dominating the KHL, had the long version of the disease and barely recovered for the playoffs where he obviously still wasn't at full form. It's a rather fair assessment that the EHT nonsense ruined our season or at least seriously hurt us.

Back to the topic. Tappara was totally dominating both games. Rouen's arena had a larger rink which further increased the better-skating team's control of the game. Rouen was solely counting on fast breaks but too often it would be just a lone forward trying to make something happen. Meanwhile, Tappara created tons and tons of quality scoring opportunities but finishing was absolutely horrendous. Of course, you need to give credit to Rouen's goalie Pintaric, too. Man of the match of both legs. Kept the race tight all the way until he was pulled off at the end of the second leg, allowing Tappara to score two empty-netters.

RB München - Tappara called of due to German team being on quarantine after Covid case(s). At least one team member has been diagnosed with the Omicron variant. CHL committee evaluating the status of the tie.

I haven't seen so many mistakes in Frölunda's defense for a long time, Johansson today with two goals, Folin at the end of a stupid step into a lying player, only the great Tomkins in goal kept the chance to advance to the finals. No, this was not a good performance and the loss of two goals may be too great, so I think the Abott team will advance to the finals. And it is also the seventh defeat in a row from Rögle, that very physical style of play does not suit Frölunda.

Frölunda are the comeback Kings in the CHL. Down by two but next game is on home ice.

The second leg has also been cancelled, RB München still under quarantine.

According to this statement by the CHL, this season's CHL campaign won't have any effect on the league rankings due to cancelled games and games played with severely weakened rosters. Starting places for next season will be handed out according to the standings after the 19/20 season.

Big luck for the Swiss NL which, after a disappointing campaign, would've dropped from 5 to 3 starting places.

Will be tuning in on the 25'th for München - Tappara. Should be a good one.
Don't bother. This time the disease hit our team. We already played with three offensive lines on Tuesday due to "precautions". Now there are some confirmed cases and rest of the team is self-quarantining. Domestic league games scheduled on Friday and Saturday have been postponed already. And won't be long until the Tuesday's CHL game will be also.

Luckily there is still time before the final of March 1st. Unfortunately much of that is sub-optimal as there will be quite a lot of München players in the Olympics.

Sick of this. Quarantine does little to nothing. Just play the f***ing games.

IIHF President Luc Tardif on Champions Hockey League: "if five teams come from one country, it is difficult to sell such a tournament as a league of champions."
